So what would happen if one of the contestants stood up to her? That's not really possible, I think, because they'd have to get in a word edgewise for that, and the host doesn't allow that, so it couldn't happen unless they got seriously upset and fought - and that wouldn't be the idea. I didn't ca...

Areanor - I was giving the pronunciation as we sing it. I know that Germans have a different pronunciation scheme - in fact, when we did Latin Masses by German composers, we'd use "German Latin" - and in that case, the "c" would be pronounced like "ts". Cute sig pic, b...

LOL, this thread seems to have completely osgiliated by now - but still here's moot report, part the second . :D Sunday morning started with people leaving. It was strange, as it seemed they had only just arrived, and no way could I imagine that normally the moot would already be over for everybody....

I've always regarded your status as more of a nebulous concept. :Wooper: :LMAO: *leaves the application of the salmon to wilko* :P Thanks for the recipe, Ber. :D (I thought you'd just bake some eggs and potatoes together - this sounds complicated! :Q ) Sharkey, it would be great to see you at a moo...

Moot report and pics I should say beforehand that I'm finding it a bit difficult to remember what happened when - there were so many wonderful days that they kind of blur into each other. This moot was planned very luckily for me - a full-time class I was teaching ended on Wednesday, and Thur...

It's really good to see you, Alandriel - and, from what I've just read, quite something to see you, and in one piece, too! :Q  (I found this thread through Voronwe's link.) Wow, you had me scared there. Those messed-up doctor's appointments are a disgrace - or were they sure that what they'd fo...

Hello folks - I'm here to say that Jude says "hi"! :D  <-- Jude We had a great time at the moot in Edinburgh over the weekend, and he's asked me to let you folks know. He was alive and well when I left him, but he's alone with three women now, so I wouldn't vouch for his still being ...

I got this from someone as an offline message on IM! I also thought it couldn't have been written by them, but I'll ask whether they meant to forward it, or whether their account has been invaded and the message forwarded itself. I just clicked the message shut. I was worried, but couldn't imagine j...

Very possible. Considering how much control some leaders have over their people, I wouldn't doubt it. Some people need to think for themselves, though. Teaching people to think for themselves is one of the hardest things to do, and requires a liberal outlook of society to begin with. The people rio...

 :D Ro, you raise some good points! :) As, um, has recently been shown here, I don't think it's ok to insult people's sensitivities and expect them to swallow it silently in the name of free speech! ;) But this is different, IMO! As TED has pointed out, the cartoons are very different. Yes, the...

Heard about it on the news, too!

A few weeks ago, the roof of a ice skating rink somewhere in the south of Germany collapsed from the same causes, killing a number of people.
