We're forecast to have low 20's all week. It's an absolute dream.
Same for us...it's very pleasant here this week! :D

I think it is a Hawthorn species - Canadian Hawthorn, or even a Douglas Hawthorn, judging by the leaves? Totally different leaves to our English variety!

Poor little blackcurrant bush...I do hope your perseverance and positivity pays off and you have luck getting a decent crop at some point.

Oh gosh, it's dreadful...I know the region(s) quite well as I've vacationed in Valkenburg twice and visited the Ahr Valley and Eifel region over the years.

You're welcome to it! Last night and today we've had 50-60 mph winds as well...I've lost multiple stems/flower heads off of my Bearded Irises which I'm very upset about. (two or three were due to the cat as they are where he makes his ascent of the fence, but two more went today in the wind.) And on...

If only....it's been consistently in the low teens here, with intermittent showers most days. Compared last year's early warm Spring during the first Lockdown, I reckon the garden's nearly a month behind!

I don't recall my mum ever complaining about these aphids on her blackcurrant bushes, so I don't really have any advice other than what can be found on the internet. Sorry... :(

Don't think so, Jude, just keep the soil moist and warm on a sunny windowsill.

Ilove lilacs, too. I remember the two trees in my grandmother's garden...a white and mauve, right next to each other.

Here's an unusual one! Tater Cookies 1 pound butter 1 cup sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 3 1/2 cups flour 2 cups crushed potato chips (about 5 ounces) 1/2 cup chopped pecans Cream butter and sugar, add vanilla and stir in flour. Add potato chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet. They do ...

Thanks, Jude, I really enjoyed that! It seems it was a Channel 5 series originally. They do broadcast quite a lot of royal history programmes. It's been decades since I was last inside the castle. Lisa and I were reminiscing about school trips there in the 70s! Btw, the Philip Howard (son of 4th Duk...

No, we don't have Netflix. I did watch a BBC series a year or so ago, with Sam Willis. It was called "Castles: Britain's Fortified History". Might that be the same one?

Glad you can see the photos at last! Arundel is a wonderful place to visit, with its pictureque buildings and riverside as well as the castle, of course. You can see the gothic-style Roman Catholic cathedral in a couple of the pictures, as well as the town chirch of St Nicholas. All three buildings ...
