Again, this is one of those instances where, personal feelings aside, what matters the most is the science. Do the numbers show that it's safe to use blood from gay men? How do those numbers compare to straight men? Women? The ultimate goal is to have a blood product that is as safe as you can poss...

Well you were around 85% accurate.
In my view, this is both inappropriate and not very entertaining. Please refrain from making jokes about my gender in future.

Ordinarily I would be outraged at this judgment. In this case, the attorney who took this case on pro bono is the attorney I dislike more than any other US practitioner. His professional judgment exercised in taking the case was extraordinarily poor. His client's judgment in refusing a minimal settl...

Just wanted to post a quick thought here re: the optional two-part process for bans - i.e. that someone subject to a Ranger-imposed ban may decide whether or not to put it to a boardwide vote. I remember some people asking, "Why not cut straight to the vote?" I think the current system is ...

It just seems to me he is more being punished for his aggregate behavior than anything he did recently I think this is correct. I don't think that his recent behavior, taken out of context, would justify a six month ban. Put differently, if any member of this board with no disciplinary history post...

The genders may be more equal but in that "equality" many men in our current culture have no concept of laying down your life for a spouse and children like in Edwardian times. It seems to me that equality would mean that women should stand as ready as men to lay down their lives for thei...

Rose with a hint of mango - let me know if that's any good, and if so I'll grab some on my way out of London in August.

So is it the best person for the job or more "win at any cost politics", even if it isn't what's best for the country? freddy Er, I think that a highly qualified Second Circuit judge who is a graduate of two of the top schools in the country, and brings a cornucopia of personal and profes...

Tosh, I generally agree with you. Looseleaf teas are often (usually) better quality, and in brewing looseleaf tea, you have much more control over the brewing process. That's how I prefer to drink it. But during the morning rush, a fairly good quality teabag (Mighty Leaf isn't bad, but I like Lupici...

At my previous workplace, one of my coworkers was an East Asian immigrant, who was still becoming versed in the ways of American pop culture. We'd go to Starbucks every afternoon to get a drink and often, a sweet pastry - an outing she called "Afternoon Delight," as it was a sweet-tasting,...

I've ordered the book "BIRTH CONTROL IS SINFUL IN THE CHRISTIAN MARRIAGES and also ROBBING GOD OF PRIESTHOOD CHILDREN!!" in paperback from Amazon at the reasonable price of $135. I'm really excited about this bargain deal, and I feel sure that I'll learn a lot. Incidentally, I completely a...

Good Earth has another rather nice one called Sweet and Spicy original tea blend. It's kind of like drinking liquid cinnamon hearts. I made the mistake of putting sugar in it the first time just because I can be a sugar fiend, but only use milk after I learned better and I imagine it could be fine ...

In the grand scheme of life, whether hal is permitted to display the rank "b77 whipping boy" here seems utterly trivial to me, so I have no objection to anything the Rangers want to do. Give him the rank, or don't. But when it comes to hal's melodrama, the best two courses of action are th...

Well, given that it's often the things that we see (and fear/dislike/can't accept) in ourselves that we most loudly condemn in others, this is utterly unsurprising. Also, I'm always amused when "sexual moralist" conservatives show up at our (liberal, sinful, San Francisco values) type even...
