Cheney Accidentally Shoots Fellow Hunter
You know, I always knew he wasn't the type to stab you in the back -- he'd rather just shoot you in the face, although I'm not sure if you could really ever call him a straight shooter after this.

Congrats -- as a person of authority, of course, you will be the cause of many a conspiracy at your office, or so your underlings will conclude . . . so make them good!!!

PS--actually, I'll be in Miami on Feb.1 & Orlando on Feb.2, but I doubt very much I could slip in a stop in between.

Okay okay okay, here it is (but you lose the picture of Mr. Black . . . I'll see what I can do about that later): Party Tab: Wall Street To Set Limits on Gifts By SUSANNE CRAIG Staff Reporter of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL January 24, 2006; Page C1 Securities regulators have given a gift to Wall Street,...

You know, I never really had a problem with the ol' FOTR/TTT dwarf tossing thing (except, perhaps, that they never did top off the trifecta in ROTK), but it seems I'm going to have to be going along with my sister regulators and start writing some rules prohibiting the payment for dwarf tossing in m...

:Q You didn't like Bill Nighy? He was quite good when talking like a normal human bei. . . er, hobbit . . . but whenever he got excitable (which was quite a bit in the later portions) he just squeeked and squeeked and squeeked . . . Nighy seemed completely incapable of conveying the proper emotion ...

I found it amateurish and pretentious, like a school play. This is exactly what I was thinking as I listened to it, although mostly about the later portions. I think many (but not all) of the earlier parts are very well done, but other portions (i.e., much of the later hours) really were like going...

It's great to see that we can come up with so many facts of great significance -- for my part, I will stick to those facts that I have directly observed: 3. A thread entitled "The Thread for Opinions of Considerable Merit" has been created to accompany this thread. 4. Conan O'Brien enjoys ...

1. The denizens of b77, when diverted from civil war, continue to be priceless friends. 2. If the Aragorn from the BBC radio version of LOTR had played Aragorn in a Rocky Horror Picture Show-esque film version of LOTR, the audience would be screaming "Asshole" in unison whenever he appeared.

1. It is exactly 100 driving miles from my house in Wynnewood, PA to the southern mouth of the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel. 2. From the time I started my car in my house's garage in Wynnewood, PA to the time I turned off my car in the parking garage at my office in Alexandria, VA, I had exactly the righ...

I'm with Iavas on this one -- interpersonal differences will exist in any context -- the problem I've been seeing is that the interpersonal differences have occurred/are occurring in a substrate that is very furtile ground for magnifying rather than diminishing conflict. Rules set in motion dynamics...

It's like Tolkien and PJ both wrote about the same events based on tales from their grandparents. It's essentially the same tale, but the details differ. That is absolutely the right take on PJ's telling (IMNSHO), and a way of looking at the films that should prove very liberating for those who are...

I think showing Sauron defeated prior to the taking of the ring would have been untenable without a very large degree of exposition that firmly establishes that the years of the fellowship represent a substantially deteriorated state of the free people, particularly the elves -- yes, we get some of ...

Thanks, all, for bearing with me in this thread. Hey, Anna (or is it Maria now?), thanks for pointing that out! Aaaagh! Now I see how people are rating these things. You're starting at 10 and deducting points for foul-ups. :suspicious: Except for Halplm, who started at zero and added points for anything a bit nice. :uhoh: I AM THE ONLY TRUE, UNBIASED, OBJECTIVE, IMPARTIAL VOTER IN THIS FORAY. :x :x :x :x :x ...

*TORN drags his sorry arse into the festivities, after spending 4-1/2 hours on the road back from DC to Philly (usually takes only 2-3/4, but hit construction back-up after construction back-up all the way back) and after being awoken much too early by a fire alarm at his hotel after having gone to...
