IIRC, an Israeli study found that post-infection immunity holds up somewhat longer than the vaccine induced one, especially if the illness was severe. Given that the entire point of the vaccine is to avoid severe illness, that information seems to be of limited usefulness. Added - case in point 2021...

Right, and this is not a study, it's public health data. Someone will dig through it to sort out confounders. Previous infections are one, among both groups. Age - vaccinated people tend to be older and more vulnerable to infections. Other preventive measures - it's possible that vaccinated people a...

Covid-19 death rate more than 4 times higher in least vaccinated states than in most vaccinated In California, infection rates among vaccinated vs. unvaccinated population show vaccine efficacy between 84-87%, both on statewide and county data all through the Delta surge. We usually have a heat wave around this time, but so far, my nanoclimate is forecast to stay below mid-80s, and mostly in the 70s.

I just looked up Sulphur Mountain: 2451 metres. I don't know if that's the highest I've been, or just the average. How much difference would 400 metres make? The highest I've been was Mauna Kea summit, at 4.2km. I was fine at the visitor center, about 2.8km. At the summit, I had to sit down, and so...

VAERS collects all adverse events following the vaccination, whether or not they were related to the vaccine. There's an explainer on the site. Californian data shows vaccine efficacy of about 84% - 51 cases per 100K in the unvaccinated vs. 7.6 in the vaccinated. Meanwhile in Florida. Broward Health...

I second laureanna. Although you'd have to throw in about six weeks of wildfire smoke. It's manageable so far this year, about four days past the point where we got orange sky last year. Fires are east of us for now, so most days the smoke stays behind the hills. When the north was burning, the smok...

Unfortunately, the non-joke site isn't all that accurate, either. Update: Dr. Christine Morris Confirms She Has Not Found the Trojan Horse I emailed the real Dr. Morris using the email that is listed on her faculty webpage for Trinity College Dublin. She has very kindly taken the time out of her pre...

German lawyers wrangle over pensioner's WW2 tank in basement

The man also had an anti-aircraft gun and torpedo in his basement, along with smaller weapons.

Reminds me of a joke.

"How do I get a license to drive a tank?"

"Oh, just go ahead, who's going to stop you?"
