It would be nice to get a second backup, know exactly the date and time the board was captured by the backup and move that same day. Is that possible? Jn basically you are in the hands of phpBBer for that You could be lucky and have it the same day, you could be unlucky and have to wait a week ot m...

There's no formal procedure for convening the Tech committee. If Dave does not want to be an official member, then maybe Idylle will be the official member #3. Jn p.s. It also seems to be working quite well to have this thread in the business room rather than the Jury Room. Speaking of which, since...

vB has user titles

These can be set on a per user basis, on an admin basis or on a user group basis which would be better for your style of ranks than phpBB offers

One thing i notice, after having a look at your ranks thread

The rank you guys have is presumably set up in phpBB as a Usergroup by an admin ( Ranger ) for users who wish this ?

Is this correct ?

It allows us easy access to managing users, adding them to groups and other useful stuff. I actually had a look round toe see how to add a user to a group without using the user list and I can't for the life of me spot it! Alatar Its been a while sine i run a phpBB board but i know this can be done...

I noticed that also Tinwe. I can only assume that those are addins and mods. We may have to find workarounds for those or find a place where they can be downloaded from. Alatar it will most definatley be a mod, You can add these to the basic board, some are easy and some are difficult, backup every...

One other thing i just remembered

Once the db is restored then if the new board is the latest .17 release depending on what version phpbber run of phpbb you may need to update the database to run on phpbb first

Just a thought

No you dont need it (shell access) My time zone is the same as theirs from memory I have 2 sites hosted with them and find them excellent, whilst they dont offer shell for you, they will do the database restore for you if you request it, it just needs to be ftp'd up to your site. You just need to em...

Forgot to add

Email support @ yourhost . whatever

If you upload the .sql dB to your home directory your host may well rather restore the db for you than give shell access

(Mine for instance does)

Ok Well if you know this already (which you may well do as you have asked for shell access) then sorry for teching to suck eggs as it were! Have you asked your host to confirm the values of upload_max_filesize memory_limit and post_max_size in the php.ini configuration file. Also (on some occasions)...

I also tried restoring from phpMyAdmin which was unsuccessful, probably due to the size of the file. What errors did you get ? I tried the same thing - no error messages, just didn't work. Would be cool to be able to look at the server log, though. Yep, dont you have acces to the log ? What exactly...

We can back up daily. If we use a MySQL database, which seems likely, than the backups will be in the form of a plain text file (currently about 300 MB :Q ). Restoring from a backup file should be fairly simple and straightforward. Of course, we could get a host that would do the backups for us - t...

When would one have occasion to use something other than the most recent backup? back to being stupid........ Questions ar...
