You needn't roll everything you dislike about the world into one issue. That goes for both of you. There is a big difference to two consenting adults of the same gender and everything that you seem to be implying. One type of behaviour is mutually decided upon. The other isn't. Except that NAMBLA i...

All the disgust and abhorrence that people have been expressing here about pedophilia was expressed about homosexuality 30 years ago. As homosexuality has been normalized since then, so pedophilia, or at least pederasty, will be normalized over the next 30 years.

Hm...I've never voted in a poll before. How does one?

Er...nevermind. The poll window came up after I submitted the post.

I was going to post in here last night, but after logging on and seeing Voronwe's and Jnyusa's posts, more light-hearted banter is just too hard to come up with. It's a shame that those who've put in so much work and time into making this a safe, sustainable community are now feeling so under the gu...

You mean you guys have on-site parking?! All this time, I thought we had to park in the lower lot and take the shuttle. That's my excuse anyway.

If this amendment passes, where should I put my bicycle?

It's basically a rerun. I wonder how many people will be up for three hours of a story they already know, a movie they've already seen.

I’ve always been struck by CS Lewis’s literary portrayal of Satan in his second sci-fi novel Perelandra , where the satanic presence is … a vacuum. Where God is, all is light and love. Where Satan is, all is dark and empty, bereft of love, bereft of everything good. Hi Di :) Goo...

Anthriel: :doh1: Hey, watch it. Don't muss my image! :P;) The circumstances for God destroying Humanity in the story of Noah's Ark were a little different, but I believe God's love for Humanity never faltered, and he loved Humanity enough to destroy it rather than watch it suffer (kind of like when...

Oh, time warping! :D Pretty good, MariaHobbit. I've never been able to do it at will, just at need. Next thing we know, you'll be bending spoons. I once watched a video that purported to teach how to do it. It's all about intent--I'm sure Riverthalos could do it, since it seems not unlike breaking b...

I imagine a scene in heaven shortly before the first sin. Up in heaven, is Lucifer, the brightest of the angels, sitting there bawling his pitiful eyes out. Along comes his good friend Michael, and says "Lucifer, my friend, why do you weep?" Lucifer looks up, wipes his angelic face, and s...

Hi Anthriel! Good to see you again too. :) Well, I won't hug you, 'cause this is the Symposium and that sort of frivolity is... less likely than other places. Such decorum! :D What, did b77 become civilized while I was gone? :P:D;) A God of unconditional love would destroy something He created only ...

I'm late to the party, so forgive me for not reading all eight pages of this excellent thread. TP said something really striking though, and I haven't seen it addressed from this aspect in my quick scan... I simply cannot understand - for those who believe such a thing - how they rationalize the goo...

What makes me think "ick" is the whole "metrosexual" thing. Gimme a man who belches, farts and scratches his crotch, keep the ones who primp and match their socks and know the difference between moisturizer and toner. Watcher: Three guesses to see if you can figure it out as to w...

Let's keep our conspiracies straight here. Weather control isn't the Government--they're the ones behind 9/11.

For weather control, it's the Japanese Mafia.

I miss the more civil and philosophical discussions that we once had over on that turf. I hope our Symp does not boil down into the sort of completely polarized camps that Manwe has become lately. Hi Watcher ! :) Yes, things are a little polar in Manwe these days. Maybe that's because our reasonabl...

On the other hand, the section on trashing mechanical stuff sounds remarkably like what I've done in reverse to try to strengthen vehicles I was riding in that I suspected might break down. :LMAO: I thought I must be the only person in the world kooky enough to try such a thing, and open enough to ...

Okay, Iavas. I got a question for you.

If the pentagon wasn't hit by a plane, what did happen to flight 77 (is that the right number?)?

There are a lot of people unaccounted for, if none of them died in the Pentagon crash.
