That's interesting regarding the non-rise of the US minimum wage for ten years. I don't actually know how often it's gone up here in the UK, just that in recent years it's been annually. I also disagree with the differing minimum wages for different ages, although I suppose for the youngest it can s...

Of course, I forgot about the cost of living (it was late at night!). I have had this conversation with some friends in "R/L". The problem with the issue of cost of living is that it differs immensely depending on where you live (and I'm referring to the area of the country you live in, as...

When, as a British person, travelling in the US and Canada (in particular, however this phenomenon is not confined to just those countries by any means!), I do find it quite amusing when, upon introductions, and finding out that I'm from Scotland, so many people, in broad American and Canadian accen...

Apologies for just jumping in here: I haven't actually the whole thread, which is quite unusual for me - normally I read the entire thing before I post. However, I've just posted in the Wal-Mart thread, and got side-tracked a bit by unions. So I thought I would post the union stuff here, and link to...

Wow, this is an interesting thread! More so for me, as I've only just been introduced to the idea of Black Friday. We don't really have anything like that over here. Sure, there's Boxing Day, but I've never seen hordes of people outside stores - mainly because they're probably sleeping off Christmas...

Hmm, IQ of 109 and got to Level 10 on my first go. My trouble was I kept getting my African countries in the wrong place and as soon as I clicked, I knew it was wrong! Oh well! :D

I fail to see how looking at trends over a few years will tell you anything. In terms of climate trends, you have to look at things over decades and more. I can say, in terms of a sailor, who obviously relies on weather patterns to determine where and when to sail, that the global weather pattern ha...

I'm big on accents. They're important to me, for some reason. Anything that is a sort of blend, like yours, is  A friend of mine is obsessed about accents. She practically swoons when she hears one she likes! ToshoftheWuffingas, despite all the 'hype' you're not missing out on much!! Also, it...

Mine's kind of generic, vaguely Glaswegian, because my base accent is sort of a generic English with undertones of American thanks to my travelling! So depending on who I'm talking to, I range from American to Scottish with English in between! :D

Thank you. back. :) (Although I think it's the accent that makes it so! I still can't used to the accent myself!)

I was going to say that they happen all the time in the UK, but it's already been said, so I won't! ;)

I personally haven't ever felt one, but then again, I sleep pretty well! Or else I'd just think I was losing the plot! :D

Mmm, my favourite! How did you know, Crucifer? I'm very good at sniffing out hidden alcohol! :D

And Samwise, mud might mean more towelling, but mud gets everywhere! (And I do mean everywhere!) A nice hot bubble bath is much better - puts me in a real good mood. ;)

I heard there was towelling on offer here! Here I am, waiting! *joins Crucifer in the tub of bubbles* (Sorry, Silwen, mud just doesn't hold the same appeal!)

Oh yes, that's what he's known for. And he's got a lot of making up to do - I've missed his towelings all these years! :heya:

I've just been discovering icons, so Master Samwise, this is for you:

Thank you. :) I couldn't get back onto this board for a while (not because I'd forgotten the URL but because it was blocked for some reason), hence why I've not been around!

(And now I'm going off-shift for four days, so I won't be around for the weekend either.) Never mind!
