We've been enduring the tail end of Storm Barbara since the middle of last week. Finally a nice, sunny Autumnal day today but it's not set to last long... [ img ]

I'm no expert, really! If you've got currant blister aphids the article I just found says they return in the Autumn to lay their eggs... :uhoh: Here's another article that mentions the different types of aphids you might have on blackcurrants: https://gardening.which.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/11500101...

Sounds like you're doing the right things. I just saw this quick-tip video on Gardeners' World...she says it may be down to frost?

Yeah, aphids can be a big problem on blackcurrants. You could try regular spraying with soapy water if you don't want to use an insecticide. As to no fruit, the plants produce fruit on the previous year's growth, so I hope you haven't pruned the old wood out too soon?

Yeah, I agree, some of the faces are not quite ethereal-looking enough for Elves. I think there's one of Liv as Arwen which works as we're used to that interpretation but most of the others seem to have more normal "human" looks. I also think that the large feature portraits are too domina...

Not sure if you have to have an instagram account to view this, but I have been following a guy called Chrisdtopher Pickman (@damrodsindol) who is an amazing artist and calligrapher, and has dedicated his efforts to producing a handmade version of Tolkien's Legendarium: https://www.instagram.com/p/C...

I guess it is well known that PTerry wrote to JRRT when he was a young journalist...for those who weren't aware, and haven't managed to see the Tolkien Exhibition at the Morgan Library & Museum, here is a post about the letter, which although is not on display in the exhibit, is published in the...

We had the tail end of Storm Erik these past couple of days...saw there was a tree down last night a few streets away that had fallen across a parked car. It was dark as I drove past and the street was cordoned off so I don't know if there was any damage to property as well.
