Silwen, the ring you like is almost exactly like the engagement ring Chris gave me in 1965! My ring is yellow gold, not white, but the style is identical, with the stone set in a swirl like that. It's lovely.

I keep a piece of ginger root (a "hand" of ginger) wrapped up in the freezer. I don't even bother to peel it, I grate it, peel and all, while frozen. It's really nice in some chicken dishes, etc. and in my ginger cookie recipe. You never notice the peel.

Not much you can say except they are heroes and I wish they never had to be. :(

On a lighter note, I suffered a cuteness overdose when I saw those puppies.

Most antihistamines now bring on a migraine for me. It is not, thankfully, a "true" migraine in that I don't get that ghastly headache, just the aura and the blindness and a mild headache/nausea. I find that Novopheneram (not sure of the spelling) is about the only one I can take and I tak...

I've got a Cook's Illustrated recipe for barbecued chicken that involves soaking wood chips, then putting them in a foil pan over the hot part of the grill, and putting the chicken over the cooler part of the grill. I'm thinking of doubling up with two chickens because I've got a lot of people comi...

I think we're all squirrels at heart. :D I'm looking at how to can salsa. I made a big batch today (pico de gallo, really), and I'd like to preserve some. I'm reading that I can freeze it, but it may not have a great texture when it thaws. I have a terrific Salsa recipe. I can 30 or 40 jars of it e...

I thought it was mostly confusing drivel, and shot in the dark drivel at that, but, yes, Snape died well.

Better than that bloody Boromir as portrayed by Sean Bean.

The issue with venison for burger is lack of fat (the BEST beef burgers are from fat laden meat, IMO). If you add fat then you alter the taste of the venison and therefor no good either. It's fine with me though, there are enough great venison recipes out there plus a good fatty burger once in a wh...

You can freeze them and then make jam. Especially if you use the recipe Jude and I use. :D

Potatoes were grown for their flowers in the 17th and 18th centuries, before Europeans were convinced they could eat the tubers.
