Any classic musical! I've been watching them with my parents and brothers since we were little. Our favorite was Singin' in the Rain, but there are so many good ones: Oklahoma, The Music Man, South Pacific, etc. We also loved The Pink Panther series with Peter Sellers, and the Marx Brothers movies.

Those are entirely too fascinating, especially when you get into comparisons. I'm closest to Maine, which apparently has the least violent crimes and dumbest population. Way harsh. But it's probably better to have dumb criminals than genius ones. Hah, my state has both the lowest obesity rate and t...

Maria, do you ever eat spaghetti squash as a pasta replacement? I love spaghetti squash, and it's probably more nutritious than the bean thread noodles.

When I used it, Stumbleupon didn't have features like that. You literally just clicked a button and a random cool webpage popped up. I liked it better like that. I wouldn't want my preferences saved.

Someone told me about stumbleupon about a year ago and I thought it was really cool. Then I clicked the link and found that now you have to sign up for it! :( That was kind of off-putting. I don't think I'll start using it again.

Good luck with the surgery, Silwen. I hope everything goes well for you! Only a few days to go till surgery and of course the temperatures outside are getting colder now after two weeks of very mild weather. So I am busy trying to stave off a cold. Today I am not feeling all that good, ...

The wiki article on the topic describes APA guidelines as recommending two periods for rough drafts, but states that the final draft should confirm to publishers' standards which usually means one space. So, the extra space in a rough draft would likely have to be removed in the final copy. Of cours...

It's required for professional or academic writing style. For example, all of my college papers have to be in APA format, and those are the rules for spaces and punctuation. So, while it may not make a bit of difference in the online world, you'll probably run into problems if you try to forgo it i...

I have to say I'm still skeptical about this. DNA is degraded over time like any other chemical, regardless of exposure to cold. Even the "most viable" cells probably wouldn't have a perfectly intact genetic code.

Paprika usually refers to ground bell pepper, as far as I'm aware. It should not be hot at all.

I think my father taught me to type with two spaces after a period, but I have long since abandoned it thanks to Microsoft Word.

Then it is your opinion that the first decade had only 9 years? No, but that's because colloquially, we don't talk about the first decade as anything. We talk about the nineties as a period of time, or the seventies, or even maybe the 1860s. But before that, it becomes too cumbersome to refer to de...

Hmm, the beginning of the end of the world? That might be quite brilliant, actually. All one would have to do on May 21st, 2011 is say, "Look at that horrible multi-car accident in Beijing! This is clearly a sign from God that we are in the end of days!" and they would be right according t...

Well, what I'm saying is that the colloquial definition of a "decade" is different from the determination of the millennium. Both, of course, are arbitrarily defined, but they are arbitrarily defined in distinct ways. This is why we can have a decade that incorporates two different millenn...

It really seems pretty clear to me, though I guess I shouldn't try to do too much more convincing. I don't think the author of the article was confused either, because the decade and the millennium are counted separately, as he/she explains in that sentence. The "eighties" were the...
