Yep, the rain was very badly needed and there was a lot of it all around us. We only got a total of maybe an inch and a half over the past week, but most places got several inches. So, I suspect the "extreme" drought for the area is going to drop down to just "severe" drought on ...

What's involved in tending a blackberry plant?
Oh.... weeding, watering.... tying the canes up to some kind of support.
That kind of thing.

I haven't killed them yet, but only because they are quite forgiving of negligence.

Everything here is turning green again here, after a brutal drought. This may be the wettest August I've ever seen, after the driest spring I've ever seen.

Hydrologic inversion, I've heard it called. Is that even a thing?

I have both tame and wild blackberry plants. All the wild ones produced nothing this year because of drought. And I keep forgetting to tend the tame ones, so they didn't produce anything either. I really shouldn't have planted them behind the chicken house. I always forget they are even there, much ...

It's wild to think that going to the bottom of the ocean might actually be even more dangerous then going to outer space! Someone pointed out that a spaceship has to deal with a pressure differential of a bit less than 1 atmosphere. A sub visiting the Titanic has to withstand 400. It's a completely...

Again? When we went to Barbados in 2006, one of our excursions was in a tourist submarine. They took us about 200 feet below the surface and we got to see all kinds of sea life close up. It was almost like an amusement park ride. You buy the tickets and at the appropriate time you go to the dock an...

It's crazy they don't even have a good count of how many people are on the sub!

After picking tomatoes, my hands and arms get very green just from brushing the foliage. I've learned never to use a white towel in the summer time after gardening. I never quite get the green all washed off and some inevitably stains the towel green.

I tried it on a slice of cheap, previously frozen pizza and it worked fine. The water in the microwave thing, I mean.

Yeah, the oil on the surface of the food in the air fryer makes sizzling noises. That doesn't happen until it gets up to fry temperatures.

I'm going to have to try that! :D Sometimes I eat left over pizza cold rather than risk a soggy crust in the microwave.

I don't have any frustrations worthy of venting. It's just so slow right now where I work that I've started bringing crochet with me to keep busy while waiting for something to happen. I like my job well enough when I'm busy, but this slowdown is unprecedented in my 25 years with this company. I don...

Dave, did you get anything? Jude? Maria? We only got a little snow, maybe half an inch? The wind chills on Thursday and Friday were horrendous, though: -8F/ -22C with windchills of -35F/ -37C It made taking care of our livestock rather challenging. They all lived, though, so I call it a win. I real...

My husband can make animated gifs on his phone, but this one was too large to upload onto HOF, so I made a GIPHY account to use. :)

We are still in drought mode here. The US drought monitor site has our area tagged as "extreme drought" this year. :(

I sort of just quit Facebook a couple of years ago without even thinking about it much. Every time I logged on, one of my relatives would be posting something political/hateful and my distress levels would rise. I quit opening the program and felt much better. Now the only time I get on Facebook is ...
