I updated the Ranger Pool, all 3 posts, to put in jewelsong and laureanna's info. Hopefully I didn't miss anything. :)

I sent a few more PMs out to people about being a ranger. There's still a lot of people that haven't responded to previous PMs about rangering. Not that I've done much of anything while being a ranger, though. If no one is willing I'll certainly stay longer as needed.

If anyone wants to volunteer to be a ranger, now's the time to do it! :D

Areanor and tinwe both responded saying they would be willing to serve as Rangers. If anyone wants to de-ranger LilyRose and myself, feel free! Otherwise I'll look into it soon. It's way too hot here for me to sit with a hot laptop, so I don't want to spend that much time on the computer right now! :P

OK... I did the following:

Changed Rebecca and Lily Rose to plebian members.

Changed Areanor and Tinwe to Rangers. Welcome to the blue.

Noticed that Holby and Farawen's terms just expired, but thought we should wait a while before switching more Rangers. What say you, Holby and Farawen?

Fixed the New Ranger Pool Thread as needed for each is, was, and wannabe ranger.

Changed the Administrator footer.

It's been a whole year since I rangered, so I appreciate the refresher course from the Rangers' Handbook.

Welcome, Areanor (and Tinwe)!

I took on the Admin mantle again and got a little carried away with the power, and deranged Holby and Farawen. Hope that's OK with everyone. Then I changed the email and Administrator passwords, and checked both email accounts (nothing to report but spam).

I sent PM's to all the people on the list who said, back a year ago, that they'd be OK with rangering at some future date. The first to respond that they'd like to ranger are welcome to the job.

Which brings me to the question - do we really need 5 rangers? The pool is getting smaller, and it's to the point where those of us who are left are having 3 to 5 month terms, every 14 to 16 months.

I'm going on vacation Friday for 10 days, so I'll let you two take over from here. Please check the Administrator and yahoo email accounts to see if anyone responds to the rangering inquiries. If they do, edit them accordingly on the New Ranger Pool 2nd and 3rd post. Thanks.

I checked both emails and the PM of the Administrator. Only vison replied. You guys are on your own until a week and a half from now - my vacation starts tomorrow.

Laurie, did you send PM's or mails asking people if they want to stay in the pool?

PMs. But if they have the option set up to get an email when they get a PM, then they should have gotten both.

I would guess their answer is "no" for rangering right now, if they have not yet responded. These were contacted July 13 and have not responded. These apparently haven't signed in since then:
Leoba (last visited in May)
Estel (last visited in March)
Pippin4242 (last visited January)
TheWatcher (last visited June)
Erunáme (last visited July 3, 2010)

These have signed in since I sent them a PM, but may not have noticed it:
ToshoftheWuffingas
Sugaplum
Elian
Donernilwen

If any of you above mentioned are out there, please respond by PM to a ranger, or post in this thread: Need to Contact a Ranger? Post Here

meh.

so quiet here...

I just wanted to say:

I'm in London for the next week and then at Legoland Germany with the kids.
I'll be back on september 1st - with two more weeks of holiday to go.

See you then.

I just added Entmooting to the User Group all_Emaillees - then I checked out and compared to former new registrants. Is there something different about CaterpillarOf_Death? as there is a "pending group" with Mayor and tempnopost?

Are these groups correct? For I couldn't find them when I checked other users...

Estel answered the Admin PM for saying "no" at the moment to rangering. I updated the pool.

Btw, isn't your term ending, Laurie?

Yes!

Seems like it only just started, though. I haven't had to split a thread or pronounce doom or anything. Just change a few ranks.

I suggest keeping the ranger number to three, in these quiet times, because we have so few active people in the pool. As it stands now, the "regulars" have a 3 or more month on ranger duty, followed by about 12 months off.

I'm not sure about the groups - we haven't had a mayor in along time. I always just look at several active members (purple) who are not rangers (blue) or founders (blue) and see what groups they are in, then put the new person (or the newly de-rangered person) in the same groups. (Except Thinking of England, of course).

Yes, that's what I did, too..

So, who's going to replace you then... ?

I just sent a request to the top 15 in the ranger pool asking if they want to serve now, serve at some later date, or be taken out of the pool.

Feel free to a-range it. :D

Laureanna here.

I hate to keep talking to myself, but I seem to be the only Ranger here, and a month past my derangement date. So I'm rangering The Watcher right now and will stick around until she gets settled in, then rangerize another two people to replace Areanor and Tinwë who are expiring in two days.

Alatar is next on the list, but he has not responded to my inquiry as to whether he'd like to be a-ranged. Ara-Anna is next after him, and has said she's willing and able. Nin is next, but has not responded, and Jude is the next person in line who has responded as available. If I don't hear from Alatar and/or Nin, I'll rangerize Ara-Anna and Jude in a few days.

Beth, welcome to the blue! Here's your personalized salmon: :salmon:

Errr, glad to of service and I accept my fish whack initiation with no speech prepared (yall lucked out!!)

Seriously, it has been a bit since I last did this and I know we switched hosts since then, so I need to do a bit of reviewing. I am sure I will be fine as long as someone else is available if I get stumped.
