I can't see any reason why we can't open up an ME forum, especially considering the restructuring looks set to take a good while. If the groups are set up already, it should be really easy to do, otherwise it's fiddly but not difficult.

Of which, of course, Estel is one. ;) She doesn't tend to be visible, which is probably why you haven't spotted her recently, but I confess I haven't seen her either since I got back online.

<popping in from working--B77 is much more fun>

Thanks, Leoba. I certainly don't want to go ahead without you and the other current admins agreeing it's OK, so you are the first!

I know Estel is still an admin, but I haven't seen her about since early last week, and she hasn't picked up a PM I sent her about this almost 12 hours ago. Perhaps RL is busy for her. Does anyone know if she's gone away somewhere?

Back to work--my client gets into the office in 7 hours and will need the files I'm working on. Fun times!

(I quoted something Steve told me in a PM without permission which is a dumb thing to do as Nin gladly pointed out which led to me editting it out).

(Editted so Nin's posts below don't look like she's talking to herself).

I got the same answer a few days ago, but did not dare to quote without permission.

:doh1: It didn't occur to me that that communication might have been private for a reason.

Ok, I'll create a new poll for a Games and Hobbies forum. So far there have been about 3 or 4 threads that I remember off the top of my head that would have gone into a Games and Hobbies thread, but that does not include the threads I have never started because there seems to be no correct place to put them.

Off to do it now.

Well I may as well take another pot shot at Voronwë as long as everyone else is.
Who drafted the wording for this poll? A lawyer? :P

A ME forum? No way. An Arda forum? Yes. :D

Nothing to do with the suggested ME forum, just a rant...

[rant]
It may just be my computer and screen, but when people use the tiny font option I can't read it unless I hit the "quote" button (which reveals the text in normal size) and then I have to cancel the quote button.

So may I beg of you (plural) not to use the tiny font option unless you are deliberately trying to test my old eyes?

I am supposing that people do it so as not to interrupt the flow of a discussion (like I'm doing right now  ) but when I see it, I HAVE to read it (morbid curiosity) so why not just post it in a legible size? If you REALLY don't want people to read it then...don't post it?

Just a cranky suggestion from a grumble bum.

[/rant]

I think a good tiny-font compromise is 9-point. It's noticeably smaller than the regular size but not unreadable even on my high-resolution screen. So when you use it you are clearly making a gesture toward not derailing the discussion, without actually making anyone jump through hoops to read it. :)

I mean, this isn't too bad, is it?

Impy, what I do is highlight the text, copy it, then paste it to anywhere I can. If I see a lot of it, I'll open up Notepad. That way you won't have to go in and out of webpages to see it. Just a helpful suggestion. :)

Yeah, I know that's a sensible way to go, but I'd much rather grumble. :P

I second Impy's rant! Tiny type leaves me looking like this: :Q

and then :scratch

and then I just slink away to pout about whatever nuggets of wisdom I missed.

You never should have said anything. Now I can't help but use tiny fonts.
And make them yellow too.
:D

That's okay, Holby--making your posts unreadable will improve the board experience for some of our Yankees fans.

If this forum gets created, if I could suggest as a title: "Welcome to Middle-earth."

And as a description, something like: "Discussion related to Tolkien's Middle-earth: books, films, language, music, art and philosophy."

Or something like that.
