Leoba, you rock! They melted in fear!

Duffy, I see that now, of course far too late. Tired and dim-witted. :D <totters off>

Thanks Leoba. I'm resigned to seeing ads providing they are not too intrusive. I dislike flashing ads and those that pretend to be MS dialogue boxes. We benefit from this board and if the providers need an income I'm not prepared to kick up too much of a fuss. The trouble with these is when you scroll back up a) it takes longer - no big deal - and b) you think you are at the top of the page when you see an ad there but there could be a lot more posts above.

I am now on a Mac (in the cyber corner of the hospital where I visit my father in law.... don't tell me I'm addicted, I know I am)

And I still see the adds...

How could they have thought people would like seeing those already abrasive ads pop up mid-thread

I get that stupid smiley ad all the time :rage: Al it makes me do is want to avoid any site that uses them, actually :rage:

I wonder if they would be happier if we all clicked the banner ads once in a while? There are stats in the directory that list how many times an ad has been clicked. The number was really, really low last time I looked.

Well the mid page ads are gone, but now theres an annoying one with audio recuring at the bottom of the page. It cant be muted and it takes at laest one page refresh to make it go away. :rage: :rage:

The ads between posts have gone but this morning I am getting pop-up after pop-up and this time it is really REALLY annoying. I get them every time I click on a new page. I could live with the midpage ads but this is getting my goat. :rage: (first time I've used this fella)

hmmm.... no such problem here today.

It's nice and quiet and I'm VERY thankful for that. I hope the problem won't continue long for you

Tosh, are you sure that's not an issue with your computer rather than the site? I'm not getting pop-ups at all. But then again, I very rarely do.

No, I got popups at home this past weekend when the only window I have open is this site, and I'm getting "popup blocked" messages here at work quite often today.

*sigh*

I'm not so sure it's this site because I have never once had a problem here.

The ads are gone. I am happy. I haven't gotten anything popping up luckily. I agree about the audio ad at the bottom. It's an obnoxious noise, too.

I just thought I was crazy when I started seeing those mid-page ads, but I could only see them for a day then they went away again! And the speakers on my laptop don't work, so I had no such anoying sound to frustrate me :)
