I like the Latin ones - I think that's a really original idea!
Ok, I could accept changing the title of the movie forum, as that's loooong and the others around it are plain English, too - as long as we keep the name of the forum-group, because I think that one is really good!
(The "Dicisne"-one.)
yov, that argument "what's wrong with English" reminds me of my students asking why can't everybody in the world just speak German. I like the fact that there's more than one language around.
Why is it off-putting? If you don't know what it means, look it up, then you know. Or ask an oldbie - gives you a reason to make contact!
There is no hilarity in what it means - the joke is in the fact that it's in Latin. (Ok, and in the fact that there's of course no Latin word for "movie", so we just translated "moving picture".)
What Nin said - we just failed utterly at coming up with a good name for the History forum. For History that's ok, I guess - not a fun subject for most people anyway. But we shouldn't call the movie forum "movies" etc, too, now.
Besides, to a n00b "Hall of Fire" and "The Turf" are just as alien as "Vidistine..."
