(What's that? This attitude is not in keeping with the board policies? Darn, I never get these things right! :blackeye: ;) )

I detect someone whose attitude is not in keeping with board policies!

Jn, how's Article 13 on "Re-education" coming along?

It's in "File 13" of course, a.k.a. the "Deep Six." :)

Too bad the world domination idea never got off the ground.

Something that's been "deep sixed" is gone forever. It means sunk in very deep water.

I should have mentioned that it has a connotation of something deliberately gotten rid of. "We deep-sixed that idea." :D

I always thought the "six" referred to being buried six feet under ground -- i.e., dead.

I always understood it as being based on the calls of the leadsman in the chains in English sailing ships. He'd throw the lead into the water on a marked line and call out the depth as the ship made its way through a channel. "By the deep six" meant more than six fathoms, 36 feet of water, which was a good, deep channel.

Sometimes it's fun to "back into" these threads, and try to guess what people are talking about from the most recent posts.

Hobby's got a shock smiley and a comment about deep meaning, and then the next one up is Prim talking about leadsman in the chains on English sailing ships.

I love this place.

Stirs uneasily as his synapses seem to be snapping to some odd rhythms and his dreams turn into bubble gum...

...wonders whatever happened to the harmonica his mum gave him on his last birthday...

...farts and rolls over...

...Wow!! I just got through re-reading this thread and the "Oreo's obsession" thread.

What a frickin fiasco!!

At least I had the satisfaction that you WERE roasting me to the tune of 30 some odd pages!!

It seemed so important at the time, and now it's just hogwash. This is a great site and you have all done a tremendous job moving forward...

Cheers...Oreo/Chris :)
