I've gotten a quite a few comments about people sending me PMs, and I have not recieved them. Both official type ones, and ones from friends. I've decided the easiest way to deal with this is post my PM history for the past month or two, and see if anyone has sent me PMs that isn't on my list. I don't know what can be done about it, but at least I'll stop getting acquaintances, friends and friends/officials from thinking the worst of me.

So, did anyone send me a PM during the time listed that isn't on that list? I'd really like to know.

Thanks.

I got it darlin, thanks :) Replied to it as well.

I've also just deleted the oldest half of the messages from the sentbox - which was 100% full, and 10%of the oldest messages from the inbox, which was 84% full and is now 74% full. Don't know if that will make a difference, but I hope so.

That will definitely make a difference. If your box will go over 100% when a PM goes in, I'm pretty sure it bounces.

The bouncing PM I've certainly experienced! A couple of times I've sent PM's and they just sit in my Out box forever and forever...or until I finally delete them.

Estel, I've sent you at least three PM's that I know of - one, on ranger stuff (as you know), two others that I recall distinctly on topics that I don't want to flag publicly..and I have a vague memory of another but I can't recall the subject so I won't vouch for that third, other than the fact that I made a mental note to myself that "this makes three - wonder whether I'll get a reply?"

I'm afraid I can't go back to check my PM's - I had a PM misshap a little while ago in which I deleted all my messages by clicking on the 'delete all' rather than the 'delete marked'. Did I feel like an dill? :rage:

ETA:
Oh I recall now! I also PM'ed you twice about the ToE vote and sticky note discussion...I thought you'd be interested as you were responsible for the genesis of the forum. Was perplexed not to hear from you at that time also.

I just sent that one. :)

I don't think the boxes being full is a problem. Mine hit 100% pretty often, because I forget to delete stuff, but I don't think I've missed PMs because of that.
When your inbox or sentbox is full, the oldest PMs get deleted automatically when something else is added on top (lost a few nice personal PMs which I had meant to keep for sentimental reasons that way).

When PMs stay in the outbox, that's because people don't pick them up, I think.
You can switch off e-mail notification for PMs and if you use Firefox or something else that has a dead-sure pop-up blocker, you won't get the little pop-ups telling you you have a PM either.
Or maybe people just don't visit here for ages.
So, yes, a PM can stay in your outbox for ages, or until you give up and delete it.

TrueHobbit - you just sent one?

I didn't get it :( My inbox, as of one minute ago says Rodia on July 3, tinwe yesterday, and Impy today - and the inbox isn't full.

truehobbit, you wouldn't have a problem of PMs bouncing because of a full inbox because you are an admin. The limits most likely don't apply to them. I'm a mod at another forum which uses phpbber I believe and it always tells me my inbox is 100% full but I still receive PMs.

I've tried sending PMs to members before and gotten a message saying that their box is full so I must try again later once they emtpy it.

I've never had any problems with receiving PMs on this board.

So Estel, you got my PM...how come you didn't respond? :rage: :P

Estel, I meant "just that one" that's listed in your list! I just meant to say I didn't send any others! Sorry about the confusion. :)

Eru, I don't really remember now, whether my inbox and sentbox were full before I started being a Ranger.
(Will see next month, then. ;) )

But as I said, the limits do seem to apply, in that for each new one that comes on top, an old one is deleted automatically.

But I must admit I had expected that new ones would bounce and was surprised when the old ones just started disappearing.

I thought I did  I certainly remember writing something about a shared annoyance :blackeye Perhaps I previewed it and closed it without sending it - that's something I do a lot. In fact, I think it's rubbing off on Steve - he sent a PM to Gimli the other day, then called Gimli to tell him to check it - they both sat there waiting for it, until Steve finally realized that he was staring at the preview and never actually sent it :LMAO:

Course, you were replying to me in that PM Eru ;) I had sent you hugs.

Speaking of that.... I wonder if all the PMs I have gotten are replies to ones that I have sent :scratch Most of them seem to be when I look at the list, and I know I do that - instead of looking up someones correct spelling name, I just find a PM they sent me, hit reply and change the title.

Thanks for clearing that up TH - I was worried :)

Weenie... :LMAO:

I was getting close to 100% when Elwen joined, so I made sure to get rid of some messages for the space I knew would be used. ;)

Well, there don't seem to be any problems. I know for sure that I didn't get some, but perhaps it was that bouncing PM problem :scratch I do tend to let my inbox get almost 100% full - I'm one of those people who are loath to delete anything.

One other thing I have discovered is that I have been getting messages from board77 in both my family account and my junk mail account - the ones I've seen have all been about replies to threads, but I just checked my profile and it's my normal email listed there, so I am now really confused. Maybe it's from my RP ID? hmmmm
