Friends, we still need to ratify the procedure on how to elect a Mayor.

When this is done, it'll take some weeks before we'll have our first real Mayor.

Until then, we need someone to do the Mayor's job, i.e. greet new members to let them know their eligibilities and keep the lists for the Ranger/Jury/Mediator Pools.

Jny (Jnyusa) has kindly agreed to do this job for the time being.

She's our temporary, honorary Mayor until we have elected our first real Mayor. :cheers

For any mayoring you might need done, contact the Mayor in the new town house - that is the new Mayor's forum, called Michel Delving. :)

Hobby, thank you for posting this! :)

And let me add that although we will still be in the process of ratifying our election procedure when the election announcement date rolls around on July 20, if the Article is ratified we will indeed hold nominations starting in August (heh-heh, I have to look up the date), elect ourselves a Mayor during the first two weeks of September, and hold an inauguration ceremony on September 22.

So start thinking now about whom you would like to have for Mayor and check if they are willing to run. If you want to run yourself, let it be known that you would accept a nomination!

(I myself will not run for this office - I've done enough during the past few months)

To run for the office of Mayor, you need to be 18 years old and have been a member for six months.

This first elected office is not open, therefore, to our friends who joined upon opening these past two weeks, but all of you can still nominate and second candidates and you can of course vote. Everyone can vote.

I updated the thread title accordingly. :)

And I'd like to let the membership know that we haven't taken to picking Mayors by hand behind the scenes (in case you wonder how one poster can suddenly be declared new temporary mayor) - but we have a lack of people volunteering to become Mayor! :rage:

Think of it as "Mayor in training" :)

Hobby, you should do this when your Ranger term expires

Moi? :Q

Thanks for your trust, Jny!

(I won't be around so much next month, though - ten days in August and then 14 ( :Q ) days in late August/September I'll be gadding around the ceptred isle, so I guess that doesn't leave enough time, does it? )
