Hmm, I played around a bit and I think I got the bots out of ToE and the Member's Lounge. That doesn't mean they've been in there before.....

I found a lot of bots that are inactive - meaning, they are registered as bots but show up as never having visited - should / could we delete them?
Don't delete them - they come with the board, we may decide to activate them in the future if we need to. In the meantime, they're sitting unused and not doing any harm (spam bots are not the same as search bots).

Have there been bots in TOE?

Jude, I don't think they've been to ToE. I just wondered about Rebeccas post and this:

That's why I looked into the bot's permissions.

This is really late, but to copy text from a Windows command prompt:
1) Right click in the black area and choose "Mark"
2) Click and drag to highlight the text you want
3) Hit enter
4) The text is now in the clipboard; paste it wherever you want.

I imagine the weirdness is because the command prompt's history is as a DOS application running in Windows rather than as a native Windows application.

I frequently have a day or two when I am unable to access b77 or hof through a particular ISP because DNS lookups fail (yesterday I couldn't reach either, today I can only reach b77). I suspect this is the fault of that ISP's DNS server, but would still like to know why it's happening (does our host swich IPs a lot?) and if there's any way I can work around it. I thought writing down the IP while DNS resolution was working and then using it raw when it wasn't might do the trick, but navigating to 72.18.157.147 just brings me to the "Congratulations, your site works" page, and 72.18.157.147/index.php is a 404. Is there some transparent redirection going on when you contact the site by name that doesn't occur when you contact it by IP?

I don't know much about server configuration, but I think that we share IP addresses with other domain names. Alatar would probably know more about it.

Yeah, multiple sites on a single host use port redirection. They'll show as the same IP.

Was the site down for about an hour just now - or was it just me?

I haven't been on here continuously, but it has been working every time I have been on this morning.

Was the site inaccessible for anyone else for several hours today?

Not sure for how long, but it wasn't working when I tried earlier. I was getting ready to email you or something. :P

The board just didn't know what to do without me, so it fell into a deep depression and was non-functional for a while. Sorry! I'm back now.

Is anyone else not seeing the "view first unread post" image?

When you first enter a forum, you see that the threads that have new posts have a different icon than the ones that don't (a yellow-brown "page" image, rather than a white one).
