I don't see a link called 'stats' anywhere.

No biggie, though, people would find out my work IP address (good luck getting anywhere with that) and my home IP address (which is even more locked down than my work). Anything else I really don't mind folks knowing.

It wasn't anything that couldn't be found out by other means, but there is no point in displaying it is there?

Fixer, it's above the link to the Forum Index, right under the banner ads, and reads Forum Statistics.

I don't see the link now either. I guess php took it down?

Snowdog, I don't see any point in displaying it either. It was interesting to see how many people got here from google and yahoo ... but sometimes my speed dial can't remember the address here and I end up navigating through google ('cos I can't remember the address here either) ... so I'm not sure that even that info is very informative.

Sometimes Liddy posts the stats from those sites that do comparisons between other sites. I find that more interesting, though it's also biased.

The link is still there, right underneath the top banner ad.

Don't click on it unless you're prepared to deal with a whole bunch of pop-ups! :x :x :x

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all,

recently 'Statistics' have been activated on my boards (automatically). Unfortunately, I have privacy issues as my site deals with discussions where a 3rd party has made threats to people - and the stats package displays IP addresses - which people want to keep confidential. Is there anyway I can configure the stats to not show IP addresses, or failing that switch them off (much as I like the stats themselves).

I have had a look at the admin panel but can't see anything - any help is much appreciated and worth a virtual beer!

we are customizing the script to move the link into admin panel.

it should be ready within 1st - 2nd week of November.

As long as Holby and Beach Blankets are the topic of discussion in two other threads in this forum, I would just like to comment that where I come from we called these things doohinkies.

Holby is the only person I know who calls them doohickeys.

<didn't want to miss the moment for saying that>

Lets call the whole thing off.

Hey, Jn, on a linguistic note, I am from the beach opposite to Holby's and I, too, have always called them "doohickeys."

Do you say "thing-a-ma-bob" or "thingumbob"?

Just checking in to say I'm a do-hicky-er, too, but I am not sure of the correct spelling, having never used it in any of my official or unofficial writings before now. :D

That is so weird! I use thingamabobs, doohickeys, and whatchamacallits also. Also whatshisface for names that have slipped through the sieve.

And you call yourself an engineer! :Q

Edit: Whoah, Imp! Weird! That's some pretty obscure slang to travel so far unchanged. . . .

We can only conclude that Jn is anomalous.

In my tenth grade science class we studied gobbledygook, a viscous substance that surrounds the whatchamacallits and prevents thingamabobs from penetrating the doohickeys . I never thought that knowledge would come in handy until now.

Btw, according to my WordPerfect spell checker, the words gobbledygook, whatchamacallits, thingamabobs are doohickeys are all spelled correctly in this post.

Can it possibly be that everyone in my neighborhood had loose dentures?

I was going to suggest that but then reconsidered; discretion being the better part of valour, and all. :D
