flubber recently notified me (as admin of our weenie family MB) that they now offer a live chat facility to all free flubber boards.

Admins can simply turn it on (one click) in the admin panel, as the default option is to turn it off.

Has B77 been notified? Do we have the facility? Can we turn it on?

The switch is there but I ain't flipping that one without some discussion from everyone.
Do people want to try this chat feature?

I virtually treat this messageboard as a chat room anyway. What will the practical differences be? M77ts perhaps?

I'm not sure how it will affect the board or if it will at all. I just think we should make that decision as a group.

I have no idea what we are talking about and how that stuff works, so I'm inclined to say let's just try it. :D

If it stops people from posting here, though, it's not so good, I guess. (I mean you can only be in so many places at once.)

I think it's a good idea. So much goes on in IM anyway, this would be a bit more inclusive.

My only issue with it is that it is clunky, slow and annoying if it is anything like the TORC one and I bet it is exactly the same.

I never saw the one on TORC, so I don't know how it worked, but you can check this one out by going to the training board. I've turned it on over there if anyone's curious.

Personally, I've never cared for chat, so I'll probably never use it. But I have no objection to others doing so. Chat away.

I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map, And knew that somehow I could find my way back; Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too - So I stayed in the darkness with you

In some cases nearly all of it.

You think my YIM has issues? Wait until you try this thing. You'll want to smash your computer.

Let's do that chat! :D (I'm not much of a chat person either, but I'm willing to give it a whirl now and then)

Everytime someone mentions a new switch that only the Rangers can use, I break out in a cold sweat.

Holby, you're in charge of this one. :D

If we can get one more ranger to come in here and nod their assent, I will go ahead and turn it on.

We should just form a committee. That'll solve it. Binding vote.

I checked this out on the training board. I don’t chat enough (read: none) to tell if it’s worth it or not, but it seems fairly innocuous. At the bottom of the main index page, under the “Who is onlineâ€

Fine chat to your hearts content.
Don't say I didn't warn you that it can be very frustrating and annoying.

the idea of eight people trying to talk at once and every line three or four steps behind the logical progression is not very tempting to me... it drives me crazy.

And you being one of the Symposium regulars ... :D

I only have experience of one messageboard chatroom (which wasn't TORC, btw) and, well, let's just say that, my friends and I very soon switched to MSN.
