I voted yes because I have pretty much no idea of what happened to bring up this vote in the first place. I vaguelly recall some sort of argument between some people in the forum and that is it, therefore I figured I'd vote because I'm not being swayed by personal opinion of any argument.

But I always thought that the Bikeracks was for people to go if they had some shit they wanted to throw around. I never really got why people would want to do that in a seperate public forum, but each to their own.

Sooooo I voted yes because I feel that if people do want to commence in public shit throwing, they should be able to do it without people mucking about around them. There's nothing worse than being angry and having someone taking the piss out of you.

Ok, I swear, when I replied that first time, I saw December 19th as the date the thread was started.

I am WAYYY too busy. :doh1:

This poll is now ended. The final count was:

Yes: 51 % (40)
No: 48% (38)
Votes: 78

Although the majority voted "yes," an amendment to the Charter requires a 67% majority to pass. Therefore, the text of Article 5 will not be changed to make the Bike Racks exclusively for disupte resolution.

Thank you to everyone for your participation.

Wow, this must be the vote with the biggest participation so far - and the one the most equally split! :Q

Even though the amendment didn't pass, I hope that the fact that somewhat more than half the membership wished for a stricter regulation of the Bike Racks will give the committee that starts next year food for thought! :)

I just wonder how many voted without realizing what in the world was going on. More food. Eat up! :D

Not many, apparently, otherwise the calls in several people's sigs to vote "no" would have led to more "no-votes".

Whatever you say TH.

I'm hungry, and you mentioned food.

I think it is a vote for a fair compromise:

- No mock discussions in the BR
- No further rules and regulations

So both "parties" have reached their goals.

I think most people voted to stop the fighting instead of allowing it to continue.

What I get from the results of this vote is that the majority has no real idea on what they want for Bike Racks to be. As a result, it will continue to be what it is: largely unregulated until someone decides to bring a complaint forth to the Rangers again, at which point we may end up with another committee.

The BR will remain what they always were, a dumping ground for people to settle disputes. It is up to people to use their best judgement to determine if their dispute is BR-worthy. I think after all of the recent turmoil, we have a better understanding of where people stand on that issue.

I'm surprised by the turnout. Other than that, I'm so 'eh' at this point. It will possibly get a new clarification from the next committee.
