Proposed deletions:

Article 10
Article 11
Ownership

Article 10
Article 11
Ownership

This proposal is to delete these three sections, in full, from the charter.

The date is 2-8-06 and voting will close 2-17-06. Quorum = 37.

_________________________________________________________
The date and time is... 1:31 AM EST Friday 1-27-06. The discussion will end 1:31 AM EST 2-6-06 (I think I counted correctly). At that point voting will commence.

Discuss!

Despite my informal/casual attitude in the committee, the proper procedures are still in effect and being followed in this period of discussion/voting. Just so there is no confusion.

I care!

And I have a question, following up on something tinwë said in the comments thread. Are you all going to write something to replace the Ownership clause? Once we move to our own server, it seems like we would need something about who owns the board, etc. Or am I missing something?

Sure. If and when ownership becomes relevant once again, we'll write up a new clause. Right now it is irrelevant because apparently Voronwe rescinded his offer for his own reasons.

Steve, how much is it? I'm kind of poor, but if it isn't too much I'd be willing to renew it.

How much is it? I don't want to put anything on my card, but I'll send some money to help whoever does.

So, I take it there is no problem with the proposed deletions? Does this lack of response mean no one will vote? :(

There are two payments that need to be made.

The first is for the name itself for another year by Feb 8th, to a Malaysian based company www.ipxcess.com for RM 55 (just USD 15). It can be done over the internet.

(I also bought the rights to .net and .org last year, but I don't see the point of renewing them).

The second is the payment for the actual hosting itself by Feb 17th. That's done by www.lunarpages.com and the renewal cost is USD 95.40 and runs out on the 17th.

Trouble is, that's a US company, and I'm not sure we should continue that. Perhaps another host outside the US might be more appropriate. Having said that, I know Alatar has been working behind the scenes and I have no idea if stuff is easy to transport.

It might be that Ipxcess can help out here. I'll PM Jude, Fixer and Alatar and get them into the discussion on the hosting aspect.

I will get the domain name right now. No biggie.

The hosting will be someone else's baby as I leave tomorrow for Croatia and will be out of contact.

Lidless, if that price was for just a year, then it's possible to go much cheaper. Godaddy.com (and no, I'm not recommending them just for the dancing buxom lady in a court room) has a hosting plan that costs $42 for a year. And unless there are plans to exponentially grow the site, the 5 gb of space and 250 gb transfer should be well more than enough.

They also have excellent customer service. I called at 3 AM a few months ago and immediately got in contact with a live person and we spoke for 15 minutes until we figured out what the problem was I was having.

But they are an American company as well, so the point could still be moot.

Voting will commence today 2-8-06 and end 2-17-06. Can a ranger help me with the quorum?

Voted.

One of the Rangers needs to send out a global email to let everyone know that we are voting on this.

hal, I need to know how many of the 200 active posters are RP IDs in order to fill out all the quorum stuff in Michel Delving.
