One more suggestion.

Should we move "Literary Rambles" and "Movies and Music" into the Round Table and get rid of "Dicisne..." ?

There's only two fora in there now.

I think the consolidation looks very good. Congratulations! If I could make one teeny, tiny suggestion, "Threads of Historical Interest" really would be more properly placed in Board Management then Outside (in my humble opinion, of course).

And my 2-cent reminder ... you can move the very few threads in the Archive Forum into Threads of Historical Interest and get rid of the Archive forum without losing anything.

Isn't it Michael Delving? Or were my eyes just making it Michael before?

Hal, I believe people wanted Business to stay at the top of the forums, where people would see it.

Combining Historical Interest and Archives is indeed a fabulous idea. I see no problem with moving the resulting forum to Board Management, though I do think it's amusing that the Board Management group practically has the most forums in it...

So, unless there's any major objections by the weekend, I'll go ahead and do these:
  • * Move "Movies and Music" and "Literary Ranbles" into the "Round Table" Category
    * Remove the "Dicisne Hoc Opus Artem est" Category
    * Move the threads from the Archive Forum into "Threads of Historical Interest"
    * Move the "Threads of Historical Interest" to Board Management
In fact, if theres no objections, I think all the fora in "Outside" could be put in "Board Management" and that Category deleted.

Any feedback?

I totally agree Alatar. :)

Thanks for the feedback, guys - I really think the boards look sleeker and neater this way. I hope it makes for a better browsing and posting experience. :)

I say go for it, Alatar. The less categories, the more the board is consolidated.

I think the idea always was, and still is to some extent, that we need visibility of the Business forum in case of discussions of this sort. I suppose the worry is that if this thread was at the bottom of the board nobody would ever see it.

That would effectively mean that the Rangers could do what they liked and nobody would know about it till after the decision was made. Alternatively, you'd have permanent stickies in Turf pointing to the current discussions in Business. Is that what we want?

I don't mind. Like all the other suggestions, if there's no objections by the weekend I'll move the Business thread to the Business Forum, the Welcom thread to Round Table and simply delete the "Welcome/Info" Category.

That Round Table's gonna be getting awfully crowded...

I would actually prefer to see the divisions kept...make Dicisne into a general "arts and entertainment" category and stick Made in Dale and There and Back Again in there. But I've always liked things to be neatly categorized and I can accept that I seem to be in the minority on this one.

I agree with alatar on the business forums placement. It was a place of grief for people (not the cause), but it's a useful forum, and I think that gives it enough weight to keep it on top. If there is something going on, people will notice right away and can comment, etc.

But, let me say that I do not have a vested interest in the business forums placement, so it could go wherever people like it, even if I disagree with the placement.

I agree with Elian. Consolidation is good, but too much consolidation is not.

Thanks for the rearranging, Rangers. It looks good. :)
