Oh good.
Does this mean I get a sweater with three arms?

I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map, And knew that somehow I could find my way back; Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too - So I stayed in the darkness with you

Are you going to store your spare tire in that third arm?

Safe in my arms

No, I am going to suffocate you with that spare tire.
Oh you just wait.
The list is getting longer and the punishment is getting more severe. :rage:

Yet I will rise above and make no references to anyone else's spare tire.
Or beach ball even.

Now that I've got a ton of options, could you guys tell me which banner you like best, and which board style?

Thanks :)

At least you get a choice. It's almost 10pm and still no friggin' dinner.

Estel, those are all lovely! But I've always had a thing for green, so I think my favorites would have to be #1, #2, and #4. Though since Alatar says it might be difficult to get an image for the entire background, I guess my picks would be 2 and 4.

Hush about dinner, Lidless, your wife is doing more important things. :P Boil some water and stick some Top Ramen in. Let it cook for three minutes and then stir in the flavoring. Voila, cooking!

Alright - after hearing peoples comments (and spam :P ), I think I'll narrow my design idea down to banner number one or number four (or five) - dependant on artist permission, of course.

As for the page design, as Alatar said that it would be difficult to do a pic in the background, I think that knocks those out of contention. I believe I'll be trying to base my design off of Page Design numbers seven, eight or nine. If I end up doing number seven, I obviously won't be using a banner, however, I am going to try and improve that design somewhat, so watch out for changes.

As Eru's design seems to be concentrated around a gorgeous blue color, I'll probably use greens, yellows or greys, depending on the banner I settle with.

Look for updated designs tomorrow, and let me know what you think :)

Thanks everyone

Ok, since Eru is doing such a beautiful job with the artwork type banner, I'm going to stay away from that, and use Ro's artwork (if that is ok with Ro, that is)

I'll be using the art from page style number seven (Ro's stuff) on an Aeolus style page, in shades of green.

Like this --->Linky for those who can't see the pic on the page]

This is, by no means, perfected. It's just something to give everyone the basic idea. What do you think?

Alatar, do you think this would be possible?

I think using her drawing is a neat idea. You could probably make it bigger...shift the rest of the message board down.

I'd go for a more neutral green...one that's less saturated than that. But that's just my preference. :)

Just out of curiousity, what font is that you're using? Papyrus?

Very nice work Stella! I like Ro’s picture too. Really gives it a personalized touch.

I’ll add the same comment here that I made in Eru’s thread. I feel like I’m butting in, in a way, since I’m not making an effort to do one of these myself, but I do have one suggestion. I think using some sort of accent color would help add some interest to the otherwise monochromatic color scheme. The greens you are using are very close to the colors in your sig pic. Look at the reds in the hair and the dark burgundies in the tail. Any of those colors would go great with your scheme. Nothing drastic mind you, just a subtle hint of color.

Just a thought.

Yup - papyrus. I remember when I was doing the banners way back when, I was experimenting with fonts, and people consistently told me that I should stick with Papyrus, and that it was the one they liked best. So, I'm sticking with it now as well.

As for the green - I had a heck of a time even getting that green. For some reason, it kept wanting to go either teal or this browny puke colored green. It took me longer to get the page a true green than it did to get everything else done

I'll start doing a real job of it tonight after I've showered (I just finished working out) and made dinner.

I do want to improve the colour a bit more, like you guys suggest. I just wanted to get an idea up on the board and see what people thought about it before I started doing any detailed work on it.

I also have to PM Rodia and make sure that this is ok.

Do you have color balance, curves, and levels with your program? All of these can be used to change the color. My color balance has 3 sliders:

cyan-red
magenta-green
yellow-blue

and you can use the sliders on shadows, midtones, and highlights.

With curves and levels, you can change everything (RGB) or go into red, blue, and green individually on a drop down menu.

Also, you can try to desaturate everything then use the hue/saturation you've been using before.

I'm assuming your program lets you work with layers? You can try color fill layers on different settings (soft light, overlay, color, hue, etc) which can also help manipulate the color.

You're going to need this, Estel:

http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/1173

Download the zip file and zip it into its own file as there's a bit to it. There's one file that contains a lot of code...possibly a .css file? That's where you go to change all the colors. Not sure how changing the banner will work. It'll probably take a lot of playing around.

Also included should be all the button gifs that you'll need to color ... if Aeolus has many of them. Unfortunately Rainy Day has lots.

Eru - I don't think my program has as many bells and whistles as yours does :( I know from hearing you talk about photoshop, as well as other people who use it, that I have to do a lot of stuff manually that with your program you can do with a click of a button. As much as I love it, Digital Image Pro is a cheap program, and it shows.

Thanks for the link. Actually trying to do my idea is, I think, going to take forever.

So, here is the finished product. Got it done in one night, it'll probably take me weeks to actually make a skin out of it  :P

Let me know what you guys think. I won't do any work for the next couple of days whilst you all let me know how I can perfect it :help: :)

Linky for those who can't see the pic on the board.

You know, the real question is - would anyone actually use this skin if I made it?

Forget perfecting it or anything like that. Would anyone actually use it? That's the question. Cause I'm not going to do a whole heck of a lot of work on a skin no one is going to use, and I kinda think, at this point, that no one would use it.

So, answer me this - would you even consider ever using this skin?

I'll wait a couple of days on that question. If anyone at all says yes, then I'll start working on it and asking people for tips.

I messed with the colors a bit. Brightened it up a bit...and a tad bit of desaturation:

I'm not sure if the gradients on the forum headers will be possible. If it is, it would probably require writing some new code because all that's available for change right now is a HEX color I believe. Alatar could answer that though.
