So who was so bothered by the spelling of center that they had to change it to centre? Just curious....

Not me :D Though I HAVE had to bit my tongue at a post made by Din, I think, where the thread title has a misspelled word in it ( I forget what thread now! )

It was me, with Jeff's permission to log in as him.

I'm really sorry - I just couldn't help myself.

*tries to look very small*

Griff - I don't get the opportunity to proof-read all Din's posts, so sometimes the dyslexia seeps through.

I don't care... Centre... Center... Maybe we can rename it "Business Park" or some other non-controversial title? ;)

Hmmm...maybe a new name would work best because I have to admit seeing the spelling changed miffed me since it took me a good 45 minutes of work to get this forum set up, all the permissions changed, and then move the threads.

Probably my fault Eru. When you live with somebody with dyslexia you get used to clearing up language issues, especially the common ones. Unfortunately Centre is one of those, the irony that this misspelling would be ok in America is not lost on me.

And yes, setting up forums takes forever :Q

I think Din meant that he misspells "Centre" as "Center" (in the UK that is a misspelling), but that it wouldn't be seen as a misspelling in the US - that's the irony. :)

Okay...I just wasn't sure.

How about a new name? Construction Zone?

Construction Zone sounds good, but wouldn't it scare people away thinking that it's "under construction" (and therefore unfinished)?
I like the "business" bit. How about "Let's get down to business!"?
Or "The Business Room".

Although I was perfectly happy with "Business Center". Reminds me that this isn't supposed to be a Euro-centric board. :)

Business Room would work.

I think we should just get rid of center/centre that way it won't visually bother anyone.

Going to go ahead and change the name. If anyone else comes up with a better name it can always be changed again.

Yep Eru, what Ber said. It is odd to find that many words I misspell are not mispelled in a country I wouldn't live in. Having struggeled all my life against this deamon language, and see a place where I would have less problems....then realise that I just would not be happy there. It is like finding the best bookshop in the world, and realising you have left your wallet at home

I still like the idea of calling it 'Starbuck's', which is where all the best buisness deals happen :LMAO:

Or The Club house?

Nah, the Club House is elitist. ;)

You know, it's true that deals happen in coffee-bars and restaurants. :Q In Spain you just can't seal an important transaction between particulars (and sometimes companies), such as signing a contract, without having a slap-up meal either before or after the transaction itself. It's bizarre how food is deep at the heart of Spanish life... but maybe that's stuff for the Symposium. :D
