I have had a couple of enquiries about installing a mod that allows people to selectively allow or block sig pics. Unless there are any objections I'll look into installing it. It won't affect those who weish to see them, simply allow people to turn them off.

No objection here and if one is trying to make a fleeting visit to catch up and it helps to make it faster it would indeed be useful.

Sounds good to me. I can see how this would be helpful to some people.

Can't see that this would do anything but good. :) I know from my years of using dial-up how frustrating it is to have to load so many images onto a page.

Was this mod ever installed? If so, how does one activate it?

I don't have any problems with sig pics per se, but some threads are currently more sig than body and the less bandwidth that is required to load a thread, the lower my chances of getting yelled at for viewing them from work.

Yeah, it's easier for those with Photobucket accounts or are fidgety enough to change the sizes, but for those that just have links... :uhoh::oops:

I was always under the impression this was an automatic function on the boards. Did it disappear when we got the paid site? I definitely like seeing sigs, so I never paid attention to such things.

I don't believe we've ever had a sig blocking option, have we? I like sigs too, but it would definitely be a useful feature to have, as would a general 'ignore' feature, which is what I would most like to see, honestly. But I can understand how sigs are a bigger issue for those who browse from work or on slow connections.

I am certain we had a block function before, Elian. It was possibly on TORC, but my memory is usually best with the most recent place I regularly post in, so that would place the blame here. :P

Oh well, I will just remember to put all my pornography in the threads themselves instead of my signatures.

No, I tease.

As mentioned before, Firefox will allow image blocking.

The only problem with the above is that it needs to be configured on a per-machine basis; it would be nice to have a profile setting that follows me around. But it's not a big deal if it would be a hassle or if it's something the board would have to pay for.

But it doesn't do in-line images in the posts, correct?

It blocks all images unless otherwise instructed.

Hmmm...I'm blocking smilies, avatars, and a bunch of the site buttons :rage: but not inline images.

Maybe it's just me. :D
