Not sure whether this thread should be discussion free...

This thread is for people to state, clear and simple, any and every issue of significance which they see concerning Board 77. Not technical things, there's another thread for that, but for the big, "We need everyone to think about this" issues...

Actually, yes, could this thread be kept exclusively for simple statements? No discussion...I want this to be a place where people can come and in three minutes figure out what the issues are.

Most of them are listed by Jnyusa on page 5 of this thread: http://www.phpbber.com/phpbb/viewtopic. ... um=board77

That's nice...it's in the middle of a discussion thread. Exactly the problem...and this is for more problems, as well, as they show up...

Isn't that what the thread I linked to is for though?

The problem with that thread is it's a discussion. That's for where the problems show up...this is the place where simple statements of the issues can be made so the people with ten minutes who "want to get their oar in" can see what's going on...without the discussion.

However, if this thread isn't needed...get your pet admin to delete it.

*bounces in*

woof woof!

Sorry, I think I know what Guru wants. A sort of ticker - or a noticeboard, if you will - with only lists of current issues being discussed elsewhere.

Is that right Guru?

Just a leash. You can't let them run around without a leash...that's against Board Ordinances.

Make sure to clean up after him.

There are certain off-leash areas...I believe the Turf is one of these...

Boy, I sidetracked my own thread...

We posted at almost the same time...

Yep, that's what I was thinking. Like I said, there are some people who just don't have the time to poke through threads, or just don't want to (for good reason). This would be a place to let them know what's going on.

You've got Two pet admins? Wow...

*wags tail*

Another simile - newspaper headlines. Whoever is interested will look the story or article in question, but you get an idea of the current issues by looking at the headlines only.

Exactly.

Now, we can use the thread for discussing the really important question...do we give away our post counts this thread has helped and let Ber clean it up into the "Issue Headlines" state, or start a new thread...which may be preferable, since we can link to this one to show how successfully we discussed a problem and solved it...

Weren't you warned about me Guru - I collect them, like Jordan collects Premiership players, to add to my collection. =:)

*tosses Ber a Bath Ballistic*

Seriously though, I understand what you mean about wanting the issues pertaining to a thread at the head of that thread. Perhaps though it would be easier to edit them into the first posts, so they can be actioned there and then, rather than having a whole new thread about it?

Nah...in that way, the one thread would be more like an index, letting people know what there is...

I like the idea of an index. A Board Noticeboard, if you like.

But it would be useful if some nice helpful person participating in a discussion could put up a summary at some point, that the thread-starter or a passing admin could edit into the first post. I'll try to do that in the threads I'm involved in. :)

*catches bath ballistic and runs away with it* :D

Guru, I think you're quite right - there should be a summary with links to the threads in which those issue are being discussed.

I'll be glad to recap my list and put it here - you can edit it into the first post ... but I'm a little confused now ... Is THIS thread going to be used for that purpose? Or were you going to start another sticky?

Tell me what you want me to do.

Not sure yet...another thread might be better though...I can change this to a discussion of them, or just let it sink.

I'll watch the thread to see what you decide.

Guru, let me bump this up with a new post.

We're reaching management decisions in some of the threads and polls, and I think these decisions should also be collected in one place for people to see, in addition to your suggestions for a guide to what is still under discussion.

Perhaps this thread (or a new thread) could be used for that purpose and stickied both in the this forum (where most people visit) and in the Business Forum.
