[EDIT: Locked and de-stickied by Leoba on 16 March 2005. These issues are being worked through in the Jury Room and in due course will be put to the community at large to vote on.]

A listings thread, as suggested by Guru. Feel free to add stuff, and I'll edit it in every week.

POST IN CONSTRUCTION!

7 February 2005

Invites

The invite/voting timeframe was voted on, but as it resulted in a tie between 7 and 10 days, an executive decision was taken. Therefore, the timeframe currently stands at 9 days.

Meaning of "majority"

Discussion of whether a "majority vote" means "simple majority".
See also thisfor a spin-off discussion about vetos.

In the Modding: Decision Thread

We have acknowledged a consensus on the following:
• there should be only admins, no mods, who are voted in.
• service is voluntary
• the admins should rotate and their terms should be staggered
• no one should serve two terms in a row
• terms will be three months long, starting in Feb, Mar, May, June, Aug, Sept., Nov. and Dec. We will vote in January for the Feb. & March terms, vote in April for the May & June terms, vote in July for the Aug & Sept terms, and vote in Oct for the Nov & Dec. terms.

That thread has now been locked (or will be momentarily). Decisions are being stored on my hard drive for inclusion in our Charter.

In Resolution of Disputes Among Members

• First post contains current draft of dispute resolution process.

The name of that thread has been changed to "Admin Powers and Bannings. The new discussion begins on page 4.

The old discussion resulted in the creation of three forums in a new section of the board called "Outside". This can be viewed from the Index, and the use of the forums is explained in a sticky at the top of each forum. Additional discussion is being held HERE

In the Adult Boardom Thread

We are discussing how to address any issues involved with underage posters.

In Concerns, Problems, Suggestions, etc.

We are discussion the possibility of getting our own server, and other technical features of the board

In Terms of Office and Admin Eligibility
We are now discussing elegibility. Terms of office have already been voted on and are shown in my post before this one.

A section of the board has been set aside for dispute resolution. It is called "Outside" and can be viewed from the Index. Within each forum of that section, there is a sticky explaining how the forum is the used. Details are being discussed here: The Outside Forum is Created

Thanks Jny!

Do you want me to edit the links into your thread titles, so that you can access the thread by clicking on them (minor neatness issue here - yes I'm nerdish like that  )?

The way I do it...

In the Adult Boardom Thread >

In the [ url ] Adult Boardom Thread [ /url ] >

In the [ url = http://www.phpbber.com/phpbb/viewtopic. ... um=board77 ] Adult Boardom Thread [ /url ]

That will give you this (once you get rid of all the extra spaces):

Please feel free to delete this as a useless post as it has no value to *what* this thread is actually about, but....

1.Should this be made the top #1 sticky of the forum?

2. Should the topics listed in here be dated as to the beginning (and end, when it happens) of those discussions

3. Should those topics (and links and dates) be kept here like an index, so that new members of the boards can get both a rough idea of previous business discussions, and so they there are links for easy reference if there are questions later on?

I'm thinking of the "Best of the Books" thread, that listed off all the great threads in Books on TORC - was a very very good idea and is very useful.

Eventually, people would only post in here pertinent discussion topics and a brief bio about each one - those topics and bio's would be added to the first post, and all the following posts would be deleted.

Kind of a "keep it simple" sort of thing.

The Business Room is, in my mind, a very complicated forum, but is also something that each member of the board should look through at least once or twice - it would be extremely helpful to have this as a comprehensive index :)

Course, that brings the complication of needed the first post to be done under a general "Admin" ID, so that all admins can use it - unless you don't mind future admins constantly editing your post Ber ;)

I feel no "owner's rights" about that particular post, Estel...
And I think you make very good points. I'm going to sticky this.
(ooo, my first sticky!!!1  )

Well, there's no way to make it the first sticky all the time unfortunately. It will trade places with the other stickies depending on which one has the most recent post.

Thanks for starting this Ber. :)

You could make it an announcement then, couldn't you?
(To keep it in first place, I mean.)

I guess we could...though we have two other announcements right now so who knows what would happen.

I was thinking about stuff that has been decided on...how we could keep a log of that. Would we add it to this thread or make another one?

For now I think it's best to add new decisions to this thread, Eru.

Should we be updating the first posts of this thread? The majority and veto issues have been decided, so should we note that?

I could do it, but I don't want to step on anyone's toes. I'm not quite sure what people want.

Yes, go ahead and update the first post, Eru.

Surely some of the decicisions that we make along the way will be reversed or modified at some time or another, but we should keep track of the way things are being done right now.

Thanks for remembering to update this thread.

Two new threads have been added for discussion/decision on Feb. 14, 2005

Term of Office & Admin Eligibility

Resolution of Disputes Among Members
Name change to Admin Powers and Bannings New discussion begins on page 4. Please see my note in previous post about the outcome of this discussion. (edited Mar 3, '05)

I believe the threads titles are self-explanatory. I am hoping that we might reach a consensus within ten days on the Terms of Office and voting periods. The other thread is more complicated and discussion will probably go on for a while.

Jn

edit: Terms of Office and voting periods settled for the time being. Now discussing eligibility of admins.

Berhael, in light of today's Announcement at the top of this forum.. would you be able to continue taking care of this thread? Then I can wipe the list of important threads from the announcement and link here.

Please tell me what you think. Thanks :)
