How does the actual moving work?

I mean...I know the fora have to be rebuilt from the ground up...and I know the 'look' has to be designed (and redesigned..and redesigned)... but how do whole threads actually get moved?

Looks in bottom of wardrobe...sees no suitcases that seem suitable.

Imp

There is no technical way of moving the board since we can't get a backup here.

A few hard working folks have volunteered to manually copy and past each post.

It really is the only way to move the posts.

Or we can just link back here.

That said I got called into work so I won't have the time to do this until possibly Friday or Monday.

Steverino,

If you sign up just pass along the username/password/e-mail for both the domain name site and the host.

It might take some time for the domain name to propagate to everyone.

I assume folks want to use board77.com?

We need to knoe to set up the site.

Yes, we really need to move...I'm starting to want to smack that fly through my screen...

Looking forward to what you all develop!

What fly? I'm not getting a fly. :suspicious:

Might be my browser configuration (not that I'm complaining - just wondering)

It's on an ad banner...annoying as hell unless the sound is off.

If you use Norton Internet Security, you get no ads on any pages.
I have never seen an ad here or on TORC. Of course I can't see our banner either, but....
Any kind of ad blocker program should exterminate the fly.

Well, I've purchased a year on the plan Squids suggested - The princely sum of just under USD 100.

Once the order is confirmed (one business day), I'll change the DNS on the domain name. As Squids suggested, it'll take 24 / 72 hours to propogate throughout the internet.

Then it's full-steam ahead.

I don't know what that means...does it mean that in 72 hours, the url will be different?

No. It means there will be a website called www.board77.com

At the moment it exists in name only on a piece of paper.

Once the site is up, people, whoever that will be, can get busy with setting up what appears on the site - including, hopefully, the transfer of the posts.

PS - Squids, is it not possible to back up this site and then restore it on the new server. The mapping may need tweaking, but surely it's possible.

Really can't move this site over there.

We have no data to move. (no files of any sort)

Only thing we can do is cut and paste.

I just got swamped at work and my parents are coming over tomorrow.

I hope I can set up the new place on Sunday.
