Poll options are not balanced so the poll is null.

I didn't vote, because I don't like the options.

this is the problem with amending are stupid charter... this poll was not meant as a serious be all and end all discussion of what to do... it was in informal blah...

but people get so uptight about the damn thing that every little minor word has to be argued over.

it's not worth it

I think that the Charter is superfluous. Just a normal traditional Constitution would work. regular language that can be understood by anyone. "President" "Secretary" "Treasurer"

The purpose may also be redefined. As I gather it, this board came away from a Tolkien board over the issue of adminstration. The Charter was written to serve as a democratic form but those who promoted it left and started HoF which has a policy of monopolizing the administration. If I'm correct, I believe the issue was that they just wanted to talk about Tolkien and not community government. But the other part of you stayed here to continue the work on a democratically organized community. (I'm basing this perception on what limited reading I've been able to accomplish here).

I think some of it can be retained.

The most important thing about a constitution is that it be accessible. It should be very brief and easy to read and always displayed where it can easily be found. It should be printed as a separate webpage and linked to in the forum description box.

People didn't stay here to work on a democratically organized community. They stayed here to post with their friends in a non-authoritarian environment.

I doubt that you speak for the people. From the looks of this place, it would appear that there are more than a few who are interested in democracy.

A search for the word "democracy" found 423 matches. A search for the word "quorum" found 463 matches.

I think the democratic style we tried to achieve here also became a draw for some people to continue posting here.

Simplify the charter? I tried once. It still might be a worthwhile venture. Do we even use the charter anymore? We never have official votes and rangers just seem to come and go as they please (which is working well).

:damnfunny: democracy - I'm the #1 poster on this board and if that means anything , trust me, you have NO idea what you're talking about and are mostly making a fool of yourself.

I guess I must concede, since a search of the word "Tolkien" found 2493 matches!

I certainly didn't come here for Tolkien. I'm a Castaneda man, myself.

I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map, And knew that somehow I could find my way back; Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too - So I stayed in the darkness with you

Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

I guess it depends on what you yourself thinks qualifies as "successful." And, so it ends for the moment.

Personal attacks are not going to be tolerated by anyone here, whether they are first time posters or have 10,000 under their belt. No one here is being accused of doing such things directly, but it also would befit those of you who continue to choose to keep posting here to think carefully about the words you choose to do so.

I think we all can do that.
