Grrrrr....I wish I could get onto Board77 again...stupid computer has locked me off, says the site doesn't even exist.

Too many people over there who don't come here anymore...I miss 'em. :(

Nope, still not working...

I talked to someone over IM and they said someone else had posted a thread over there talking about how they'd run into a problem which sounds a lot like mine, at about the same time. They had to play with their internet settings to get back on...does that sound familiar?
Can anyone shed any light as to why this might be happening / offer any advice?

I don’t recall this problem happening here before, but I know HoF has run into it a few times, and the advice there has always been to clear your cookies and then try to login. Has he tried that?

If that doesn’t work then I don’t know what to tell him. I’m no techy, that’s for sure.

I suspect they might have the old site bookmarked. You know, the one on phpbber.

PM him and give him the correct URL maybe?

Alatar, Rodia's already suggested that and he has the correct url.

Tinwe - I've passed your suggestion on. I'd hope that's obvious enough that he'd have already done it. You know. ;)

Believe it or not, the old board is still there, so he shouldn’t have gotten a message saying the site doesn’t exist if he was going there.

Yes, we swapped TORC PMs. He said he'd try and hook up with OldToby on IM in hopes that he might be able to help. I don't know what else to suggest really.

I'm the last person that should be trying to get involved with this though, being nearly Techy Illiterate! Our home internet and phone line are next to useless (phone is hissy and the internet keeps disconnecting) and I can't work out what's wrong there. Mind you, it could be damp in the phone socket, which is less of a techy issue and more of a living in a 120 year old house issue!

It's been a crap shoot for me on any computer I use for two days now. Sometimes I can't see it. Sometimes I can see the board but can't log in. Sometimes I get through those hoops and can't post. I'm using the new URL. I've cleaned my caches and cookies on the the machines I use. Sometimes I make it all the way through posting and then I can't navigate the board anymore. I just get kicked off. What's the deal?

I'm having trouble with HoF too, but none of the other sites I frequent.

So, some of you may have noticed that b77 went down without warning yesterday, and stayed that way for the whole day :rage:

For those of you that are not aware, we have a place on TOB to discuss the board outages: TOB thread.

I suggest you bookmark the link now, because when b77 goes down again, you won't be able to open this thread to get the link! ;)

Perhaps we should seriously start discussing getting a different server? I don't know crap about tech stuff :blackeye: but it does sound like something good to do.

Also, it doesn't seem fair to have *E* taking care of all the server stuff - payments and whatnot. Perhaps if we move to a new server we should set up a b77 paypal account that the rangers would have the passwords to - passwords being changed whenever new rangers coming in just like all the other passwords - and have the paypal hooked up to the ranger email address.

I don't know if that would work, but I feel really bad that after more than a year, *E* is still having to handle all that stuff on her own
