Wise and true. And, I think, very pertinent in this case.

I agree with that.

I disagree there. I was ignored all the time in Manwe, but I got over it. I could still participate, and choose to think that my words were so perfect, they were unrebuttable. I still felt like I was part of the community. I could still call out in the night and feel that there was someone there listening - some other person who just lurked, as I usually just lurked. When I got banned, it hurt like hell. Suddenly I was cut off from hundreds of people I knew and cared about, a few of whom knew and cared about me as well.

And I agree with TM that asking before being publicly miffed might go a long ways towards making this a cozier place.

Safe in my arms

Wouldn't it be ironic if this thread caused drama? :blackeye:

Rule whores? Ban happys? Really?

Are you the same person who said this back in September?
Quote:
People didn't always respond well to what I had to say hal especially after the board blow up, how could they? There was a time when I too had the same feelings you had but I put forth an effort to change the way I reacted on the boards. It took time for people to see that I wasn't just a troublemaker but a decent person that wasn't all bad.

It is a process and I never demanded anything from anyone, it came with time.
Quote:
The internet is a very tricky way to communicate with others because there is no face so you can't see facial features or hear the tone of the persons voice. That's why it's so important to question before assuming or jumping the wrong conclusion. If there are constant feelings of being misunderstood then maybe it's time to look within and see how you can change how people see you.
In any case:

In the interest of changing how people - in this case, you - see me, and correcting erroneous conclusions: I have no interest in fighting to change b77 policy to allow bans. Others wanted to have a discussion of whether we should have additional mechanisms for dealing with "drama." I gave my thoughts. It turns out that I am in a minority of those who have expressed their viewpoints. So I hadn't intended to make a further issue of it. I really am sorry for any bad feelings stirred up by my posts yesterday; as always, it wasn't worth it.

No. Irony is, by definition, unexpected.

I'd love pie.

Jude uses vodka in his pie crust. I'd try that.

I'm just a human forgive me.

Rule whores and Ban Happys :LMAO: Oh I crack me up. You took the bait had you ignored me what else could I have done? Ah, but we can't ignore what is so tempting to comment on can we? Looks like you too are human.

I'm not directing this at any particular individual, because it happens in virtually every thread of this type that crops up, and not just on this board.

Wouldn't it be nice if people could, when they say they're done with a topic, actually BE done with it, as opposed to allowing some reposted, rehashed meme to draw them back in an hour or a day later?

I'm as guilty as anyone. But I have come to the conclusion that it's a rhetorical flourish alone, without any real meaning. I would love to be proven wrong, mind you.

If one is simply tired of discussing something, say that. If one is upset with the tone of the conversation, say that. Saying one is done and then jumping right back into it...never leads anyplace good.

corrected typo
