Nothing in the universe is a given certainty.

I may not even be one.

I didn't mean to put my :LMAO: in a serious place.

As I said elsewhere: democracy (the system) does not mean everyone gets what everyone wants. The majority rules.

I like B77. I like nearly everyone here. The few I don't like, I can put up with.

I rarely enter any threads but the Manwe Yak Yak. I think I'll stick even closer to home from now on.

Now, that, I wanna see.

There are a few very commonsensical people here, like tinwe and TheWatcher, and then there are a few nonsensical people here.

Naming no names.
I really hope you're talking about me here.
If not, I'm not trying hard enough.

I could be wrong about it being relatively easy. But the use of "relatively" gives me near-infinite wiggle room, so I doubt it. :P Easy as compared to building the Great Wall of China with Legos, for example.

vison-

Please don't take this wrong, and understand that it's only directed at you because you brought it up first: if you go to a board to participate in one thread there, why do you need a board at all? Wouldn't a Yahoo group or some such work better for that? I ask earnestly, because you're not the only person who sticks to a familiar thread or two and for whom the rest of the board might as well not exist.

That's a dead board. And we veer close to it, punctuated only by moments of foment and angst...but even they are familiar at this point.

I have often thought of that, Axordil. But I honestly think of HoF, B77, Torc, and TOB as more or less all one board anyway. I start here, then flip through the others.

I've never used Yahoo or any other sort of thing.

Now and again I go to Snopes and one other LOTR-related board.

*also posts at the other LOTR board*

*and it took forever to figure out that you were the same Vison*

Not that I ever go there anymore, really.

I'm not suggesting people go off and form their own groups on Yahoo and ditch the place, mind you. I'm simply saying that part of the vitality of a board community comes from interaction between groups of people. If those groups become too insulated from each other...it's the beginning of the end.

It's good to know that the purist spirit remains alive and well on TORC. ;)

I wonder why people like that even bother registering.

Back to the current topic. I don't take issue with the principles laid out in the Charter. However, It seems overly wordy to me. Or maybe I'm just a simpleton. The probationary period sounds like a good idea in theory. However, we rarely have issues that would warrant having such a thing. If it would make the posters on the board more comfortable, I am all for it, though.
