Is there any way we can change it the way we could before?

Or can that be added somehow?

I looked under user control, but there weren't any options.

There's style templates, like before. From what I know, the old styles are not automatically compatible. It may take a little tweaking. I think we might want to pick a standard skin that looks close, and add in our graphics.

Not good news for Aeolus

Aeolus Theme
Hi CyberAlien

great work and nice themes here. I only want to ask if you will converting the phpbb2 'aeolus' soon to phpbb3 because i use it at the moment in my own forums (actually phpbb2). Thanks for all.

No, I probably won't be converting that style.

My oldest styles, including Aeolus, were created with Fireworks, but I haven't used it for few years and now designing only in Photoshop, so to convert that style I'll have to re-create it in Photoshop which isn't easy, so I don't want to do it.

I can see, looking at the smiley box, that a whole bunch of files need to be imported too! :D

BTW, you have access to CPanel too! Just saying ;)

I remember designing some headers for b77 at some point, but life took over. Life is on hold right now so I could potentially take that up again or we could use the ones I did design. Just depends if people want to bother with something a bit nicer or just keep everything plain.

Of course all I can do is the graphics bit. I have no knowledge of implementing it which would be up to Jude or Alatar and I wouldn't know if they'd even want to bother with it all!

Sure, I think that would be great! If you want to design a banner or a skin, Alatar and/or I would be happy to try to implement it!

Is the Rainy Day style available here? Considering Alatar has experience with tweaking that style, we could do the same here. Then all that would need to be done is make a banner and decide on colours, though I'd say stick with the blue.

.
.

The more I look around at this place, I think it's going to be better. It seems to have a few more nice bells and whistles. :P

Just as a refresher, this was the look that we were leaning to (click to view large and disregard the white specks...I didn't remove them at the time due to laziness):

I do have to say upfront, that I'd rather not get into arguments over how the board will look, or go through endless polls, etc. Of course people will have the choice to use it or not so hopefully that will help.

Oh, I think it would be lovely if you could make a nice banner for us. If people have the option of different styles, then anyone who didn't like it could just choose not to use it. But I would! I think it would be pretty! :)

(Okay, I'm trying to figure out the smiley situation. It's not going well at the moment.)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But Eru's skin looks rather a lot like it, so I'd me more than happy with that

Just a suggestion in the meantime - could we have three or four options of admins choice for skins up until Eru makes her marvelous creation? If anything, just pick them at random. If Rainy Day is still an option, could we have that? Maybe?

Really appreciate the work you guys have done and are doing - this is amazing :)

I changed the logo, but it looks like shit. Can someone have a look at cleaning it up? Changing from jpg to gif forced it to use less colours so it looks a bit rubbish.

Eru, I like the look of your Theme, but with a much smaller banner image. We don't want it to get in the way of the actual content on the page. Also, you'll need to find a Theme thats similar for us to edit.

Estel, have a look here for some styles you'd like added. We only had a choice of 4 before and ideally, I'd like to keep it that way to minimize future work for the rangers as some Mods would require editing each style in use.

So only gifs can be uploaded in that banner spot? Will that just be for this style? Did the banner get shrunk as well?

I agree with Rainy Day being one of the styles. That's the one I'd want to use for the new layout.

edit: Saw your post in the Turf saying Rainy Day hasn't been converted. Ah well.

How about these?

eTech cyan -- linky

prostain copper -- linky

They're the closest I can find to Aeolus and Rainy Day.

Thanks!! :)

I fear we're going to get annoying to Jude and Alatar! If I knew how to install board styles I'd totally volunteer to help. Anyway, to me Avalon is pretty darned close to Rainy Day:

I don't see automatic choices for templates, so I don't know how to put them in. :(

(The admin panel has way more options on it, but I don't see where/how to upload things. Maybe that's just as well, but I could be of more help if I could figure it out. Not sure why I'm having such a hard time; I don't usually when it comes to figuring these things out.)

I've noticed that links now open in the same window, rather than in a separate tab.

That (links opening in new windows) used to bother me when I first joined the messageboard, but then I got used to it.

Once we get used to this (opening in the same window), I think this is far better. If you want to keep the present window open, just get into the habit of right-clicking and choosing "open in new tab".

I feel the exact opposite. :P I like links opening up in a new tab.

Same here! I have Firefox set to open links into a new tab, but these settings must override those. I'll try to look for a way to change it so that links open in a new tab.

I've been looking at the admin panel to try to change the styles of the board or create new ones, but it sounds like a process that is far beyond my limited knowledge. I'm happy to help with as much as I can, I just am not sure exactly how to go about uploading a new style.
