Hi Jude,

I am not sure if this is due to mod_security..
i can disable mod_security for your site but your site will not be protected and will risk from remote hacking attempt especially since you are running phpbb..

Best Regards,
Joseph
I don't think we want to disable mod_security for the sake of getting new smilies, and we have no guarantee that that will fix the problem anyway.

I'll do some research and then answer the message...

Bah. It doesn't make any sense that we would have to disable anything to add smilies or any other elements to the site. Something is weird here.

No, I don't think security should be removed either. :Q

I wonder if we can edit the link or something? I am going to check out exactly where that link points to.

edit:
Well that was totally unhelpful.
The link is gobbledegook.

adm/index.php?i=icons&mode=smilies" target="_blank

How did we do this before and what has changed?

Well that's annoying. Thanks for your help.

Just as a thought, since we don't want to delete smilies and have old posts not make sense, we should replace them. I can look, but if someone else wants to find less creepy replacements that works for me. :)

Here's what we need to replace, IMO:
:o

So for : lol :  we could use [ img ]
for : mad :  I suppose we could use [ img ]

Any ideas for the other 3?

And I know I'm weird, but I rearranged the order of a few smileys. Don't hate me! :help:

Before, you could just use the drop-down menu to select from about 1000 different smilies already there. That's all I ever did; I never uploaded any via FTP or anything like that.

Rebecca, here are some devil smilies. And here are some scared/surprised ones.

It means that all the code is in the file called "index.php", which is the same file that executes all the other pages in the Admin panel. I think. I'll have to go through the php code and see what's going on.

Don't hold your breath, though, because php is not one of my most-used languages. :D

If we can't fix this, here's another idea: we could open a group photobucket account especially for smilies, post the password in a members-only forum (and change it periodically!) and use it.

I'm not sure if that will actually be less work than saving your favourite smilies in your personal photobucket account; I mean, either way you have to open a separate tab and log into a separate site to access the smilies. What do you think?

Could we ask him to temporarily disable the whatever and then enable it after we upload smileys?

I think it is pretty silly that we can't add smilies, and I think it is something the service we pay for should correct. I already have a lot of smilies book-marked and I hardly bother to use them because it is a pain.

Yeah, it's been real annoying this week using the ones I have in my photobucket.

Okay, so I went to look at the code and I can't find the link to the cPanel. Does anyone have the direct link? Or, what series of links I click on to get there from the Client Area?

(have they moved it? Because I used it a lot during and after the move, and obviously had no problem finding it)

I have no idea, but I suspect this may be part of our problem. Perhaps either Alatar or Mxhub can decipher this?

Update: I think they must have changed the Client interface, because I had no problem finding th cPanel before. Fortunately, I posted the direct link in one of my previous support tickets, so I managed to find it that way.

I had a quick look at the code in question, and couldn't find anything to deal with the particular querystring in the "Add Multiple Smilies" link. Maybe it's in a different file - but the one I looked at had code dealing with different querystring combinations, just not that one.

If the code dealing with that querystring is missing, that would explain why we get a blank page.

The next step for me is to look at a fresh copy of a phpbb package, and see if the missing code is in the file I thought it would be. Is so, problem solved. Well, problem identified, anyway.

If not, the code is somewhere else and I have to find it.
