I agree, the first three were my favorites. Just a generic Smile like :) with a santa hat would make me happy too though. ;)

I was just wondering... if maybe we could get some xD and xP smilies? Like these, for example:

Personally, I use them a lot in other places, and I've been missing them here on B77. This may of course just be me, though, but I still thought a suggestion couldn't hurt. :)

Ugh, they look gruesome. What are they supposed to convey?

There are lots of smilies I wanted to add but I don't have ftp software anymore.
I could download it easily enough to upload some smilies if someone is willing to point me in the right direction as far as the path etc goes.

Gruesome? They're not supposed to be dead or anything, if that's what you think. :P How to explain... Well, it's when you're not : D, but xD - you do that thing with your eyes. :P If you try it real life, it's easier to understand. It's not a plain big smile or tongue, it's big smile/tongue with sort of a "ugh" feeling attached.

Oh dear...

It's really hard to explain, I just use them when I know I feel like that - help would be welcomed! :blackeye:

I'm actually a bit surprised you don't know them, I see them used everywhere.

Forget I ever said anything?

Yeah, I know them. XD is sort of :D taken to another level. You're laughing so hard your eyes are scrunched up.

I wouldn't say that, really. The scrunched up eyes are the - - "ugh" feeling. Like... say you're laughing/big smile while saying "Oh dear, this is not good", or having a tinge of sarcasm or cynicism or dark humour or SOMETHING in your : D or : P.

Both, especially : D, are happy feelings. But you can smile or tongue without being (just) happy. If you've just done some big mistake, but you can still see the funny in the situation, but it's not :D-funny. It's not:

"We just screwed up royally, didn't we?" : D but

"We just screwed up royally, didn't we?" xD

Which is what I kinda feel right now... xP (And here I suppose the xP is the cartoonish sticking out your tongue in resignation...)

Holby, I use Filezilla. http://filezilla-project.org/" target="_blank Is that what you're looking for?

Personally, I don't like the XD dudes, but I'd never stand in the way of additional smilies. :Wooper: (I do NOT have a smilie addiction, and I resent the insinuation. :pout: )

Holby and I were trying to add smilies, but we hit a snag.

Could Jude, Alatar, or *E* log in to the ACP and see if you can add smilies? If so, either you guys have to add smilies or Rangers should be Administrators again, so we have full access to the ACP.

Also, some thoughts on getting rid of smilies...I would like to get rid of some that I've not seen used in a long time (ever?). If anyone has any complaints or requests, let us know!

These in particular I think could stand to be replaced:
:o    :spider: :tsktsk: :w00t: :lurk:

I'd be fine with the first four going. Only reason we have them is because they were default for the board.

Oh good. :P Those 4 are my least favorite by far. The rest I'm rather meh about and just don't recall seeing them used.

I'd really like to keep the on/off rant one and the dreary coffee one - I like those a lot.

This is really going to mess up the emoticon only threads :P

Well this is all neither here nor there unless I can figure out how to link to them.
I did upload a couple with the ftp software and I can see the files, but I can't find any way to add them with the board software which is acting all weird.

I've seen the :tsktsk: smiley used - well, not that seldom, and I think we should keep it.

Well those of us that don't know about such things are talking about more important things such as which smilies we like. :poke: :P
