This post is to check our smilies. I'm going to be playing around with them a bit, trying to get them to appear normal size.

They appear fine in your post!

The bigger ones are squished in the smilie box that appears next to the text window. Not sure if we can fix that or not

The whip one doesn't work in Lali's post.

Well spotted Nienor! That was our deliberate error to see if you were paying attention.

Honestly.

Now how do we fix it...

Yes, I noticed the whip one last night. I played with the smilie sizes, hoping to get them to appear larger in the smilie window, but it had no effect. The only thing we might do is move the larger smilies off of the window that shows up automatically when posting. And we could just put the normal smilies in the posting window. ???

(I was wondering about the attachment thing, too, Alatar.)

While we are talking smilies could we have the hug one on the initial panel? It does get used a lot. This isn't anything urgent and I promise not to stamp my foot. I only mention it because the subject has come up.

It is there already. It's just hard to see because it's squished. 3rd row, 3rd one in if you're choosing Post Reply. Otherwise it's the 3rd row, 5th one in on the Quick Reply. Is that the one you mean?

I could add back in more, if anyone wants. I was trying to limit the number showing to see if it would expand the smilies. It didn't have any effect, though, so I could add back in more.

Right, I think I've figured out the smilie width thing.

In the Admin Panel, go to the "Posting" tab, then click on "Smilies". Each one has four buttons: the green one means "Edit". Click on the green button for the one that you want to change the dimensions.

There, you can edit the height and width of the image. What you could do is right click on the image, and choose "properties", take note of the actual height and width, and enter these values in the boxes.

On the other hand, maybe "scaled-down" versions for some of the bigger ones would be preferable. But not so scaled-down that you can't even see which one it is. So maybe fiddle with them a bit.

Unfortunately, each one has to be done individually. As you can see, I've done the "rolling head laughing" one, and the head-banging one So maybe start with the ones that are so distorted as to be unrecognizable - the other ones that are slightly reduced but still recognizable can be left, I think.

No, I tried that, Jude. It didn't do anything. :(

I sent some CSS code to Alatar that might do the trick.

What do you mean it didn't work? Do you not see the rolling head and head-banging-against-wall smilies at their correct width now?

I do. But, but, but I tried it on Wooper last night, and it didn't do anything.

:bang:

I just fixed the "hug" one in the fourth row. Can you see that one now?

Yep, man, I'm mad now. I figured it out last night, but it didn't work for the one I tried (for some reason). So I gave up.

I set Wooper to 25 by 25, I think. Isn't it at 15 by 15 as default? Did I not pick a big enough increment to tell?

They're all set to 15 by 15 by default. Elbereth knows why.

Incrementing by 10 pixels ought to be enough to see a difference. Not sure why it didn't work for you yesterday

Me either. :(

Well, at least I was on the right track. Want me to go fix a few, or are you working on them right now? I'm thinking the damnfunny, devil, rant, banana, toast, poke, salmon, and horsey could all use to be bigger.

I just want to say that there is no rhyme or reason to the sizes for those things. It's all trial and error.

How's it looking now?
