What about the "About" stickies we have in each forum? Should I de-sticky them?

If we were getting lots of new members I'd say leave them up, but as it is, I feel they're just taking up space.

I'd agree to be honest

I do, too, but I think a general thread somewhere giving a brief overview of the site would be a good idea (somewhere at the top of Turf or the Business Room?). I can do that later if you want. It might not be till tomorrow night, though. I'm about to be away from the computer for any length of time for a good day and a half.

In preparation for merging the Forum Management forum, I've been gradually moving topics to either Business Room or Threads of Historical Interest. Sometimes I just guess as to which is more appropriate, but usually the ones that have to do with the old invites go to the historical forum.

If anyone disagrees with my guesses, feel free to chime in!

Thanks for the work that all of you have put into maintaining/tidying up the board.

(it's hard to click the tiny emoticons on an iPad, and I accidentally clicked :rage: and almost didn't notice. Would have sent a slightly different message ;) ).

:LMAO:

It's the messageboard equivalent of, "It's not what you said but how you said it."

I almost wish you had left the post as is - that would have been a delightfully surreal post! :D

Forum Management is now empty. I can just go ahead and delete it, right?

At risk of patting ourselves on the back, I have to say I find the new layout of the board so much better!

It does look really good! Nice job, guys!

(And I haven't forgotten about condensing the About stickies.)

I know it was my idea to move the Business Room to the top  but I'm second-guessing myself now. It really does belong with Board Management, and now it's visible from the top (which was my main concern) because there are so much less fora in-between.

What do you think?

I was always of the opinion it should be lower, so I'm fine with you agreeing that I was right all along! ;)

You all run quite a nice board and is deservedly billed as 'The Last Homely House in the Web'. Even though you all know each other going back years, you have been more than welcoming to this wayward web wanderer. I thank you all for that :) . I have browsed through the threads, and though some subjects I considered posting to, I feel awkward bringing up a thread that is several years old and hasn't been posted to in years, by people I assume are no longer frequenting this board? I also am not sure if I should start new threads on subjects that may have an existing thread. What is the policy on this?

I do have a few questions about some of the forums .. What is Thinking of England and The Bike Racks all about?

Just being a curious bird. :)

I'm glad you feel welcome here!

Feel free to bump old threads or start new ones - there's no one right answer, just whatever you feel is appropriate.

The Bike Racks were created as a place where people could resolve disputes - we used to be a much busier place, and as you can imagine, sometimes personalities would clash. I'm not sure whether or not they were successful in their aim, but the intention was there.

Thinking of England was meant as a place for discussions that were deemed unsuitable for younger members, so it was an age-restricted forum. Maybe someone who was more active there can describe it better?

This is good to know. Thanks for that. :) I'll probably start new threads as it seems odd to bring up old threads where the discussion is among people who are no longer around.
