Oh defo! Like a kind of virtual Imladris.

:D

I like this very much. Then all we have to do then is organise the social groupings and the scent markings for each one...

A big hello to y'all I'm drawlin' 'cause I've so not slept.

Feels very g00d.

guiile!

I love the house idea. Virtual Imladris. Wonderful!

Especially since our banner is The Last Homely House on the Web. :D

The Bike Racks will probably have to become Behind the Woodshed.

I think we should keep the number of subforums down to a minimum. A board looks much better if it's more contained. It's more user friendly and mroe inviting.

I'm guessing the Homebase forum idea is a place to put the chat threads? If so, I prefer them in the Turf. They fit better there.

I'd also rather not see the Symposium split. Maybe we could in the future, but Symposium II seems pretty redundant to me. Keep those threads in the Symposium or move them to the Turf. Also, I don't see the need for the Barter and sell forum. The only thread we have that would go into that one is the Secret Santa thread.

What's the point of the critics corner?

I'd suggest keeping Television and Movies together for the time being. If that forum ever gets too cluttered in the future it could be split.

What about an art forum?

Maybe there could be an admin requests thread in the Business room? I think keeping it contained like that would work much better.

Anyway, I'm up for the hobbies forum being started any day now! :D

I hate to be the one to ask, but why are the movies and music forums called what they are? It means nothing to me and I suspect to a lot of other people.

I want an art forum too! :D But I realise that it might have very little content, so perhaps a couple of dedicated threads in the hobby forum... I have thought about posting a thread about my favourite art, but I didn't know where to put it.

Alatar, the name Vidistine nuper imagines moventes bonas? is (pig) Latin for "Have you seen any good movies lately?". :D La Camerata is, as far as I know, a chamber for listening to music (hence the word "chamber music"), but I'm not 100% sure of this one. :)

Nin,

That depends on how long before we move. I'm finding it a problem already, maybe we can just add a Fun and Games Forum now without doing all the other restructuring? It's a 2 minute job....

Er, no, it isn't a 2 minute job. :D You forget that we have to activate the permissions for all the users, manually...
That's my only objection though :)

Creating it is a 2 minute job....

See you don't find out this stuff on the Experimental Board!

Maybe someone could figure out how to create groups on the experimental board and if that will help with setting permissions.

I'm going to try creating groups sometime this weekend ;)

Nin - prefer to get the restructuring done and tested before we move, as we may not be able to change things like forums on the new boards without hiring someone.

Eru- thanks for the input :)

I'm going to give it until April 1 for discussion, and then come up with around 6-8 options, and create a poll. Then take the top 3-4 options, and create another poll to narrow it down. Since this is a fairly big project, it seems the most fair way to go is to create as many options as possible and slowly narrow it down with multiple polls.

If anyone has a specific idea, please post it with the same format as shown in previous posts :)

Thanks :cheers

Estel, can I re-iterate my desire for a Games and Hobbies forum. If you're creating the M77T forum this weekend can you add the Games/Hobbies forum at the same time?

Thanks,
Alatar

Not a very constructive opinion but that looks like a LOT of forums...just cause TORC has that many doesn't mean we need so many too...

I agree with Ro, but I'm having a hard time deciding what to trim out. It's good to have one forum for invites and welcomes that are short lived and numerous, and good to have the m77t forum separate for quick review of new events. Hmmmm, will have to ponder this further. :scratch

This is my suggestion:

Welcome/Info Forum - Master Forum
  • Info Forum / Welcome - subforum (Keep important info stickied at the top of page)
    m77t and g77k forum - subforum
The Round Table - Master Forum
  • The Turf - subforum
    Hobbies and Games - subforum
    The Symposium - subforum
    Thinking of England - subforum
The Library - Master Forum
  • There and Back Again - subforum
    Literary Rambles - subforum
Dicisne hoc opus artem esse? - Master Forum
  • Vidistine nuper imagines moventes bonas? Movies - subforum
    La Camerata. Music - subforum
    The Gallery. Art - subforum
The Conference Room - Master Forum
  • The Business Room - subforum (make an admin requests thread in this forum)
Invites - subforum (only if we're still going to have them)
Outside - Master Forum
  • The BikeRacks - subforum
    The Jury Room - subforum
    The Archives - subforum
Hidden Porn Stash - Master Forum
  • Deleted Threads Storage - subforum
    Forum Management - subforum
    Sensitive Admin Information - subforum
I need to know what the purpose of the Homebase Forum and Critics corner are. As of right now I've omitted them since I don't know what they are for.
