Given the increasing size of Board 77 and the need for a concrete foundation to build upon, a group of volunteers are currently hashing out the nuts and bolts and cogs of how this community will govern itself.

From this process will emerge:

(1) Constitution or Charter: this contains our Mission and By-Laws:
this is the big job that the committee has to work on.

(2) Administrative Handbook: puts those By-laws and procedures in handy
form for admins

(3) Front Page Statement, FAQs and Forum Stickies: the guidelines for
these based on what's in the by-laws.

You may have noticed that you are not able to post in the Jury Room where this Charter is being drafted. Right now, only the committee members are discussing and voting on pieces of the Charter. In any of the threads that have “Convention” in the title, you can look at the first two or three posts and see (1) what we are voting on right now (2) what’s on the agenda (3) any by-laws that were already discussed in the Business Forum and resolved (more or less) by consensus or by vote.

As soon as a piece of the Charter is finished, we will be posting it either in the Bike Racks or here in the Business Forum so that all members can discuss it. It will be up for discussion for two weeks, and during that time we will pull out any items that the membership considers too controversial - no questions asked. At the end of two weeks, everything that is left will be put to a final vote of approval.

If you have suggestions or opinions to contribute while we are working, you are also welcome to post them here:

dirt & wires convention, p. 8

or here:

Admin Powers & Banning, p. 4-5

Jnyusa checks all the discussion threads in the Business Forum every day for member input and either post it in the threads where the convention is taking place or add it to the appropriate place in the agenda.

You can also PM any of the committee members with your ideas.

This message is also posted this in the Bike Racks so that people can ask questions. Thanks!
