I'll clarify. I like "How you remind me" and Chad Kroeger's "Hero".

Too Bad I've always liked this one.

Woke Up This Morning This one, too. Good, angry song!

Figured You Out is a very naughty, trashy song but catchy.

Okay, now the police officer has apologized to Nickelback:
Quote:
Hartlen said the message of "Don't drink and drive" began to take a backseat to the "bashing of the band."

"I didn't want to turn this into an anti-Nickelback," he told CBC Friday night. "The more I thought about it and the more I saw the comments and the more I saw people sort of jumping on the 'We love and we love to hate Nickelback' bandwagon, I was like, 'I think we're losing the message here' and I'm sort of feeling a little bad about what was going on."
So much for that. :D

I put that link because of what Lali said:

Maybe not Nickel Creek, specifically, but certain kinds of bluegrass music and, definitely, most types of country music, would be a worse punishment for me!

He wasn't addressing you, Maria. It was just a general update, I think.

And Nickel Creek is a good bluegrass band. However, I still wouldn't want to listen to them for hours.

First Hippo Ultrasound Shows Pregnancy; How Zookeepers Managed It
Quote:
This isn’t a joke, though it reads like the setup to one: How do you convince a 3,200-pound hippopotamus to stand in a specific space, lean just so against a gate and remain perfectly still while an ultrasound procedure is performed to confirm her pregnancy?

The zookeepers at the Cincinnati Zoo pulled it off with aplomb. And yes, Bibi, a Nile hippopotamus, is pregnant. Zookeepers had hoped for as much when the 17-year-old Bibi and Henry, 25, got together last July in the zoo’s Hippo Cove.

Their copulation was widely observed, and zookeepers and others have since been watching since for telltale signs that Bibi was pregnant.

Chelsea Manning has been freed by President Obama 29 years before her sentence was due to run out

I must say, this bit of news makes me like Obama all the more.

I'd like him even more if he pardoned Edward Snowden.

Snowden is not in jail. And any sympathy I felt for him evaporated when he offered his services to Putin.

Did he offer his services to Putin? I didn't know that.

On the other hand, if his only other choice was to be extradited to the U.S., that's not really much of a choice.

Putin's hosting him had a price. And honestly, if his choices are standing trial in the US or serving an authoritarian leader of a hostile country, and he chooses the latter, he at the very least gives up all pretense of being "for freedom".

Manning is a much different story.

I also can't blame anyone for choosing relative freedom in Russia over jail in the U.S., when he did what I'd consider the right thing in letting the American people know about the covert surveillance (though I know some would disagree with me) and those were the only choices. Snowden didn't exactly get a lot of offers of asylum, no doubt due to the influence of the U.S.

And I agree - I was surprised, and pleased, about Chelsea Manning.

btw, I laughed at this T-shirt:
