Given that we’ve got gun and drug threads towards the top of the page, I think this is relevant.

As I’ve said before, I think that arguments that apply to guns also apply to drugs, and visa versa. Arguments for banning, legalizing or regulating one apply to the other.

Therefore, I’d hold that taking extreme opposite positions on them is inconsistent. Opinions?

Poll note: Go for the option that most fits. I'm trying to get a poll that you can vote in regardless on what the gun and drug laws in your country are. Read the spirit, not the letter. Banning can mean seriously restricting or regulating, and drugs don't include alcohol and tobacco for this thread.

Err...I can't vote for any of those. I'd remove restrictions on some drugs and keep the gun laws just about the same..maybe tighten them in regards to training and licences. I certainly do not want to remove restrictions on guns.

I’m pretty much on the same page as Eru here - loosen restrictions on some drugs, tighten restrictions on guns (licencing, etc).

Alright, I picked 4 then, although I don’t fall on the extreme end of either issue.

I think I'd fall into choice four. I am all for gun registration and licensing (guns are not toys), and I think the restrictions on most drugs are stupid. There is an industry out there with a huge potential for revenue-- look how well the alcohol industry does.

Hmmm...this isn't going to work. I should have just labelled the options pro-gun, pro-drugs, ect, or something.

You picked the most extreme language for your options. That makes it hard for people to choose.

From now on they read (although they don't)

Tightening restrictions on both guns and drugs
Loosening restrictions on guns and drugs
Tightening restrictions but loosening restrictions on guns
Tightening restrictions but loosening restrictions on drugs

That way if you want to legalize one drug but keep other drugs banned, you are in favor of "loosening".
