Conspiracy test

A new BBC TV series explores some of the biggest and most troubling conspiracy theories of modern times.

Do you trust everything you are told or do you think there is usually truth in conspiracies?

Psychologist Dr Patrick Leman, of the Royal Holloway University of London, has devised a test to see how conspiratorial you are.

Once you have answered all 15 questions press submit and we will calculate your score. You will then be able to read Dr Leman's analysis.

1. Strongly disagree
2. Disagree
3. Don't know
4. Agree
5. Strongly agree

Your responses indicate that you have a medium level of belief in conspiracy theories. You may well be quite trusting of your close friends, partners, those you work with and others but sometimes cannot be sure of all of them all of the time. You may also feel that your voice in terms of wider political decisions is rarely heard or acted upon, perhaps because government and big business is more concerned with their own interests than with those of the average person.

There's something fishy going on! I expressly disagreed with that statement. There's a conspiracy by the academics and the BBC to put words in my mouth. Notice also that all mention of aliens has been removed. Hmmmmmm *gets out tinfoil hat*
My point of view is that sometimes there are conspiracies, sometimes not. The art is working out which are and which aren't.

Your responses suggest you have a high level of belief in conspiracy theories. You might have reason not to trust others, even people close to you. You may also feel that you are an outsider in terms of society and the political and business decisions that large organisations make.

I am not so much an outsider....and have seen the beast from the inside. As for not trusting others, only if they betray me.

Funny, I was in the 26-50 range, less than Ara! Probably because there were lots of questions about trusting your friends, which I do.

26-50.

They seem to be making some assumptions here. You can mistrust your government without believing conspriacy theories.

Well, since my conspiracy theories are completely unlike the standard conspiracy theories (as if I really care bout some of those ... I mean, what would be the point of a conspiracy to kill Princess Diana? Also, Kennedy was before my time!) I get a score of 26-50.

Come on, get better conspiracy theories.

River's right. For an academic study it is pretty questionable.

Ber,

I would go to the website, but I don't know who controls / has access to the database and if my IP address will be recorded.

My score was clearly fixed. They're after me, man. They're after me.

Obviously I am the only one who trusts people as far as I can throw them. I do find it funny, however, I also work for the government... ;)

Ditto what Tosh said. I came out with the same result, despite the fact that I do not believe in any of this conspiracy crap. The test was more about paranoia than conspiracies anyway.

The only reason I possibly came out so credulous is because I'm a control freak and don't trust people....

There are some I wouldn't even trust that far.

Have you tried to cheat on this test.

I did, just to see if I could alter the results on a floating scale from ultra sceptic through to Iavas.

The results were surprising.....

I think there is somebody, or somebodies behind all of this....... :Q
