Sept 2007 has come and gone. How long do we give him before we call him a fraud? If there is such an attack in ten years from now, do we give him credit because it was "some time after Sept. 2007"?

Is there a statute of limitations on prophecy?

Didn't he say "late 2007"?

*re-reads*

Ah yes, so he did.

Well, let's wait and see, and hope he's wrong.

Oh how the world would benefit if all religious zealots, extremists and evangelists were to be struck down by pestilence. All religions.

Bump-diddlyump!

Well, it looks like it's been conclusively proven that Pat Robertson is a liar, a charlatan, and an utter fake.

My one regret is that I'll probably never get a chance to tell him straight to his face. :D

Good thing I started this thread - otherwise he might have gotten away with it! ;)

[...]There shall, in that time, be rumours of things going astray, erm, and there shall be a great confusion as to where things really are, and nobody will really know where lieth those little things wi-- with the sort of raffia work base that has an attachment. At this time, a friend shall lose his friend's hammer and the young shall not know where lieth the things possessed by their fathers that their fathers put there only just the night before, about eight o'clock. Yea, it is written in the book of Cyril that, in that time, shall the third one...

That movie is a favorite, despite its great sacrilege.

Life of Brian is not sacrilegeous...at no time does it ridicule Jesus or his teachings.

What it does it ridicule everything else. :D

My pastor loved it - he used to be able to quote large portions of the dialogue verbatim.

The moral of the story? Don't take yourself too seriously. You just aren't that important!

Jewel, I could see many people I know having a major problem with that movie. I really do think it's hysterical, though, and it ridicules just the right things, you know?

I've long thought the film more of a humorous critique on human absurdity. I.e. terrorism, mob mentality, frivolous belief, committees, etc...

I do agree, as I said. And I would say that we're osgiliating, but we're really not. That movie is a good thing to compare some of this Pat Robertson stuff to.

I dunno, though. Don't you think it's at least a bit sacrilegious (if you were a Christian)? It doesn't directly attack Jesus at all, but it certainly skirts the issue.

Hmmm, I guess I'm conflicted on my opinion. No surprise there!

I can see how some might see it as sacreligious. I don't know if I'd go so far as to say that it is. I like to think that the members of Monty Python were wanting viewers to make that decision on their own.
