Here they are. Read if you can stomach. ;) A few highlights:
Quote:
In the interview with Meeuwsen, Robertson assures Americans that contrary to many economists' opinions, the economic recovery will be swift.

"Cast off the gloom and the doom," Robertson says, "because things are getting ready to turn around."
Quote:
"The Lord said the dollar is going to go down dramatically," Robertson said in the interview. "If I'm hearing him right, gold will go to about $1900 dollars an ounce and oil to $300 a barrel."
Quote:
On a more spiritual theme, Robertson concluded his New Year's Day predictions by declaring that God says now is the time for Christians to expand their outreach and evangelism around the world, especially toward Muslims.

"The whole of Islam is weakening. The violence and bloodshed has turned many against this religion of hate," Robertson declared.

Maybe God has a speech impediment. That would explain a lot.

If a man who proclaims to hear voices says the economic recovery will be swift, who are we to worry? Screw those experts. Let's just until Tiresias hears some more from his oracle.

It's not the Pat Robertsons of this world that saddens me. It's the number of people who believe them.

Just watched his New Years video and here is what he predicted for 2009

*** the economy will recover and recover much faster than any of the experts forsee - he mentioned the start of the 2nd quarter
*** because of the current economic pain, the American people will welcome Socialism and embrace it
*** we will witness the largest expansion of federal government power since FDR in the Thirties
*** the power of Islam will weaken in the Middle east
*** The US dollar will decline and hyper inflation will take over causing a dramatic and near constant rise in consumer prices
*** Russia will lead a coalition to take over control of mideast oil

====================================================================================

Pretty shoddy record I would say.

Since he's into enforcing the outdated laws found in Deuteronomy, should we carry out what it prescribes for false prophets? :P

You've probably watched or read about Robertson's incredibly ignorant (in fact I would say obscene) words on the Haiti crisis. Here's a more respectable Christian's opinion on the interview:

For the love of God, Pat, SHUT UP

Well, how in the world does Pat Robertson know that the Haitians made a pact with the devil some time ago? And, if they did, we should now infer that this earthquake is a punishment from God? :nono: I do NOT agree with that.

There are things that I do believe in, but I'm not discussing them here.

Lalaith - good question. Maybe God... or the Devil told him so. ;)

What I would like to ask Pat R. is this:

if the Haiti earthquake is God taking revenge on these folks for making a pact with the devil, and Katrina was God taking revenge for Sodom & Gomorah sexual activity associated with Mardi Gras and the mostly black Ninth Ward, why doesn't Robertson open his mouth and point the finger of blame when a tornado wipes out some trailer park in an all white area of the South? He seems to only point his finger - and in turn the finger of God, at people of color.

I see even Pat Buchanan could not stomach the Robertson comments this morning. That should tell you what a whackjob this senile old man is.

This guy has been the cause of me finally quitting my old original LOTR message board for good. I just popped in over there and was absolutely horrified to read several posts saying much the same thing as Robertson did. Phrased a little more kindly but the same sentiments. One of the posters is a moderator, and my first online friend. I met her in Real Life at The Gathering in 2003. :(

I debated about blowing my top but instead I just closed the tab and removed the link from my bookmarks. It hurts a lot, I've had a lot of fun there since December 2001, and have now left behind a couple of very old and dear friends.

But the place has drifted steadily into ugly waters and I guess it's just as well I'm not going to go there any more.

I'm sorry to hear that, vison, but I can understand. I've recently decided that there are certain things I just shouldn't discuss here, for my own sanity really. You think I would've realized that a long time ago, but I think I am a glutton for punishment.

But you're never smug and snotty, Lalaith. You never come across as a woman who "has the answer" and everyone else is going to suffer the fires of hell.

Thank you for that. I really hope I don't come across that way, because I don't feel that way. I have more questions than answers, really. (And that might be the crux of the issue.)

You mean what the banks said they were making in the last few years?

Pat Robertson should in no way consider himself a Christian.
