I'm not really sure what this means, but it was kind of interesting to take the test:

http://similarminds.com/personality_disorder.html

Apparently, I'm mostly eccentric! I suppose anyone who knows me could have told you that! ;)

Personality Disorder Test Results

Schizoid |||||||||||||||| 70%--- 53%
Schizotypal |||||||||||||||||||| 82%--- 53%
Antisocial |||||||||| 38% ---47%
Borderline || 10%--- 47%
Histrionic |||||||||| 38% ---43%
Narcissistic |||||| 30%--- 41%
Avoidant |||||||||||| 46% ---39%
Dependent |||| 14% ---37%
Obsessive-Compulsive |||||| 30%--- 40%

*scores in brown are the average web score

Test Note: Read the descriptions below to avoid misinterpreting test results (for example, the Antisocial classification does not mean you are a loner, it means you tend to be insensitive towards others).
General Note: the validity and reliability of DSM personality disorders are still lacking in strong statistical evidence and clear agreement in the scientific and medical community. They are determined by the American Psychiatric Association and will likely be revised in the future.
Author Note:I don't think Schizoid personality is a valid disorder (read), some of the smartest people in history were schizoid because they occupied a remote end of the intelligence bell curve. Schizotypal personality can encompass highly original thinkers as well as totally insane people so I think it's a flawed type. I think the remaining eight disorders are generally valid.

Disorder Info

Eccentric Personality Disorders: Paranoid, Schizoid, Schizotypal

Individuals with these disorders often appear odd or peculiar.

Paranoid Personality Disorder - individual generally tends to interpret the actions of others as threatening.

Schizoid Personality Disorder - individual generally detached from social relationships, and shows a narrow range of emotional expression in various social settings.

Schizotypal Personality Disorder - individual is uncomfortable in close relationships, has thought or perceptual distortions, and peculiarities of behavior.

Dramatic Personality Disorders: Antisocial, Borderline, Histrionic, and Narcissistic

Individuals with these disorders have intense, unstable emotions, distorted self-perception, and/or behavioral impulsiveness.

Antisocial Personality Disorder - individual shows a pervasive disregard for, and violation of, the rights of others.

Borderline Personality Disorder - individual shows a generalized pattern of instability in interpersonal relationships, self-image, and observable emotions, and significant impulsiveness.

Histrionic Personality Disorder - individual often displays excessive emotionality and attention seeking in various contexts. They tend to overreact to other people, and are often perceived as shallow and self-centered.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder - individual has a grandiose view of themselves, a need for admiration, and a lack of empathy that begins by early adulthood and is present in various situations. These individuals are very demanding in their relationships.

Anxious Personality Disorders: Avoidant, Dependent, Obsessive-Compulsive

Individuals with these disorders often appear anxious or fearful.

Avoidant Personality Disorder - individual is socially inhibited, feels inadequate, and is oversensitive to criticism

Dependent Personality Disorder - individual shows an extreme need to be taken care of that leads to fears of separation, and passive and clinging behavior.

Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder - individual is preoccupied with orderliness, perfectionism, and control at the expense of flexibility, openness, and efficiency.

Hmm, not certain about the questions. They felt as if you had to adjust your honest answer to fit their preconceptions, right from the start when you had to pick what made you happiest. I couldn't answer lots of different things. :D

Hmm...I've done this one in the past, but I'll do it again.

Paranoid |||||| 26% 49%
Schizoid |||||||||||||||||| 78% 53%
Schizotypal |||||||||||||||||||| 82% 53%
Antisocial |||||||||||| 42% 47%
Borderline |||||||||||||||| 62% 47%
Histrionic |||||| 22% 43%
Narcissistic |||| 14% 41%
Avoidant |||||||||| 38% 39%
Dependent |||| 18% 37%
Obsessive-Compulsive |||||||||||| 42% 40%

Green is the average score.

Honestly...it didn't tell me anything I didn't suspect already. Although apparently I am more OCD than I thought.

Slightly interesting though.

Hmmm, interesting. Look how high our Schizotypal score is (except for Tosh). Why do you think that is? And how do you think it correlates to the MBTII designations?

Come on! It is basic Psych 101 knowledge that even if you have symptoms of some disorders doesn't mean you qualify for that disorder. Thinking so may mean you're a hypocondriact.....better check with your doctor :whistle:.

Paranoid |||| 18%
Schizoid |||||| 26%
Schizotypal |||||||||| 34%
Antisocial |||||||||||||||| 66%
Borderline |||||||||| 34%
Histrionic |||||||||||||| 54%
Narcissistic |||||||||| 34%
Avoidant |||||| 30%
Dependent |||||| 26%
Obsessive-Compulsive |||| 18%

I had to take the stupid thing. I find is beyond hilarious that I I'm mostly Antisocial. If this is the case why do I care about stupid people who don't care about me?!?!?!?!? I think it mostly has to do with the fact that I work retail and I despise people especially stupid cheap people.

Antisocial doesn't mean I'm a hermit it means I have very little regard for human life. Just so we're clear. It's not true btw :)

Well, I'm not surprised at the predominance of Schizoidness around here. That's why we are here on the Internet and not out at some bar striking up conversations with strangers, right?
Code:
Paranoid                  ||                   10%    49%
Schizoid                  ||||||||||||||||     66%    53%
Schizotypal               ||||||               22%    53%
Antisocial                ||||||               26%    47%
Borderline                ||||                 18%    47%
Histrionic                ||                   10%    43%
Narcissistic              ||||||||||           34%    41%
Avoidant                  ||||                 14%    39%
Dependent                 ||||                 18%    37%
Obsessive-Compulsive      ||||||               22%    40%
*scores in right hand column are the average web score

I suppose I should give myself a few OCD points for lining those all up.

The right hand column says "average web scores" which I presume means the composite average normal person taking this test on the web would score these scores. Which means that we all have some of all of the types in us. It's just when we score above average that it is noticable to others. Not sure what scoring below average means. Does a low histrionic score mean I'm pathologically deep and other-centered? :D

What's interesting is that I found this test on a site devoted to developing paranormal abilities, and the author of the thread was gathering information as to whether people interested in this sort of thing scored high on the "Schizotypal" catagory or not. The thread has been going for a couple of years, and just about everyone who took the test scored high in that respect. Which isn't surprising as the definition of the disorder includes the statement:

Quote:
odd beliefs or magical thinking that influences behavior and is inconsistent with subcultural norms (e.g., superstitiousness, belief in clairvoyance, telepathy, or "sixth sense"; in children and adolescents, bizarre fantasies or preoccupations);

So, really, a high percentage of folks on that site are going to score high in that regard, or they wouldn't be there. And probably quite a few here, too.

edit: Yes, Ax, I just copy/pasted and put quotes around it. :)

:rage: This test sucks eggs. I have it on good authority I am a psychopath.

HOW am I supposed to use the insane plea during my trial with scores like that?

Buys gun, shoots test.

And T_M is right, we all have those traits, it's when one trait becomes too strong and overpowers the rest that it becomes a dis-order.

Thanks, Maria.

Looking at these scores, I know that ten years ago I would have had some notably different ones. C'est la vie.

I wonder if a very low "Borderline" score like mine means a degree of megalomania but combined with the very high Schizotypal score means I don't tell anyone about it? :suspicious:

Good point. The degree of actual veracity in answering is going to skew the averages somewhat. Then again, really paranoid people wouldn't take the poll, for example...:D

Am I the only one who disregards human life?! *makes a big public display trying to get attention*

It's like my two most prominent traits conflict with one another. I'm anti-social but yet I also act out to get attention. :blackeye:

I would take the test, but I am afraid I would break it.
Besides these types of tests are rarely accurate because it is hard to be objective about yourself.
We tend to rationalize everything.
And TM, being a people hater like me doesn't mean you are anti-social. :blackeye:
