No Ron Paul? :pout:

I voted for McCain, but out of Obama and Clinton, I would pick Obama.

F. Both parties are as bad as each other. Would not vote at all in protest.

Aw, man, you gotta vote! I'm more of a lesser than two evils kind of voter. No matter who's running, there's always one I'd rather see. I have a big "communist" streak in me, so I'm always for the least capitalistic ones, which are usually the democrats, right? Not that I'm against capitalism...our country is a mix of a command economy and market economy, which is my ideal; but I guess it's just my nature to push the ball towards the command or "communist" side of our economy.

For now I'll vote in Pee Wee Herman if he'd pull the US out of the Mid East.

I can dream of a better system, but until I'm out there personally changing things I might as well vote.

Either way....it's gonna be refreshing to have a new president who can speak English, and is not a complete idiot, shamelessly putting on a front of "know-how". ie, Bush is a fucking joke for a president.

Obama is my first choice, Hillary is a distant second, McCain doesn't even register (though he was the best of a very bad lot of Republicans this year).

As usual, I don't have an option to waste my vote on. It's not apathy though.

Can't vote, but I would, for sure, if I could. I disapprove of "protesting by not voting". That just plays into the hands of the bad guys.

Lesser of 2 evils, if necessary.

Agree with Vison. There's always a candidate better than the other (even if you think both of them suck). And you help no one by not voting. And protest? Not a soul will know whether it's a protest or just laziness.

Can you give a blank vote in the US?

Edit: Oh, and I like Obama. :)

Probably someone we've never heard of.
But I'll probably vote Obama.

Without a 3rd party candidate, what other simple way is there for the whole country to send the message that both parties are corrupt other than to make the turnout look abysmal?

I would not vote for the lesser of evils. That means you are endorsing something you think is bad.

Since a blank vote clearly is a protest, and not just laziness.

True. I definitely see the value in voting for someone I believe in.
But at the same time I don't like the idea of my vote not going toward the lesser of the two evil popular ones....the two most likely to win.
If I thought the two popular candidates up were both equally corrupt, then I'd go w/ the third party. But I always try and find one that seems less corrupt to me. And I pretty much like the democratic economic stance. So, I guess it boils down to voting for the type of economy I want.

Nienor, the 3rd party is considered the protest vote. :D

Edit: I should have added the 3rd party option up there. doh!

Having a black president could at last and finally be America's redemption for slavery of the Afro-Americans.

I wouldn't vote for any of them, but it has nothing to do with apathy. I vote my conscience, whether or not I think that the person that I have chosen has any chance of winning or not. I wish that Americans would look beyond red and blue and consider everyone who is on the ballot, and vote for the person that they believe is best for the job, not for the person that they think is going to win.

Can you spoil a vote? As in, write "They're all useless fuckers" across the ballot so it's registered but not counted. That's protest.

That's lame more like.

edit: Now knowing how old the Crucifer is, I'm retracting the second part of my reply even though it is quoted below.

So I guess the answer is no, then.

No, you can spoil it, but obviously your vote doesn't count. Hence a waste of time for your journey to the booth and the busy officials who have to register such wise cracks. I've just been messaged that the Crucifer is only 18 so I'll take back my 5 year old crack and say that while cynicism in one so young is sad to see (but understandable if you matured during the Bush years), voicing protest is certainly legitimate though I think it can be better expressed in other ways. :-)

One thing I have liked seeing with this primary elections is younger voters getting enthused again and really backing a particular candidate. That's very healthy for American democracy and long may it continue.

demo, you come over as rather condescending there. I think that Crucifer's point was a valid one. He's been asking if it really is right to vote for the "lesser of two evils", or if there is a formalised way to spoil your vote and have that count for "none of the above". His point seems to have very little to do with age.

And I've just stayed true to the stereotype, leaping in to defend a point of view I don't actually agree with, as soon as age is brought into the equation. >.> However I maintain the view that Crucifer and I are both well informed enough to be quite as cynical as we please.
