Laws are only ever a backstop for conscience anyway. Of course he has to be locked away, if only so that others with similarly deficient wiring see him as an example, and possibly choose not to follow whatever sick predilection they're feeling as a result. If it stops one such incident it's worth it to try, convict and imprison him.

Deterrence doesn't always work so well when it comes to preventing impulsive acts, but building a prison in your basement doesn't qualify there.

Reportedly, he's worried about how his kids are doing without him...

I actually don't find that odd at all. It's not that he had no decent impulses. It's that the ones he had twisted around to support the fundamentally indecent one he couldn't control.

I'm not saying it's odd, it's just... twisted. Or whatever word one would choose...

Well also how the kids are doing without him could be indicative of his controlling impulse. It depends on how you look at it. Some people with controlling tendancies may think the people they are controlling can't survive without them. I think we need more context. From the type he seems to be (the ultimate control personality), it would make total sense to worry how they are doing with him. Him not being there to run things being the important part.

Kerstin, the oldest daughter, has finally come out of her coma and been reunited with her family. I remember reports a while ago said the doctors where almost certain she would die, so this is happy news indeed. :)
